It seems that all I can do is to post to a regular auction, then if it doesn't sell, I can either re-list, or move the item to my store. Any other other suggestions?

Yes, you can create your listing here at Auctiva and have it posted to ebay as a Store Item only. It does not have to be an auction listing first.
When you are creating your listing, at the top of the form are buttons to identify what you want the listing to be... Auction, Store, Fixed Price item. Just be sure to check the button for the type of listing you want to make.
If the listing is for auction, it creates it as such and it is posted to ebay as an auction listing.
If the listing is for a store item, it is created as a store listing and is posted to ebay in your store, but not as an auction listing.
Same thing with the Fixed Price listing.
