hey ,
I get a lot of comments on my listing, that it takes a lot of time for the pics to load. I uploaded them through auctiva hosted images at about 70-80kb a pic. Some told me to user irfanview, how do i use it together with auctiva?
if you have other suggestions as to how to shorten the time it takes the pics to load,
I'd appreciate hearing it.

Use our image picker when you create your listings.

This image in your auction is 243k. If you use our image picker all your images combined wouldn't be as big as that one image.

A couple of your images are 50-80k bytes. What someone means when they say to use Irfanview is that you should load your images in that and shrink them to about 400x300 pixels and save them with a higher jpg compression setting so that the file size ends up around 30k bytes per photo. If you use our image selector on our lister page we do all of that for you, as well as giving the "click to supersize" option that lets buyers see the bigger and more detailed photos that take a little longer each to load.
Hey Achick. If you just want to resize them in irfanview, you can do a batch conversion. Just be sure to choose the rename them option so you don't lose originals.

Open Irfanview, choose File and Batch Conversion (about half way down). Load your images, choose advanced options and set it how you want. I simplify and choose about 50%, so if they're facing different directions it doesn't mess them up.

You can also put your name on them. It's in the lower right of the same window.

Say OK and choose your folder for them to dump into. Then upload them into Auctiva. It goes really fast once you get used to it. I use it all the time and love it.

Jeff's way is, of course, faster because it eliminates the Irfanview step. I just like playing in photo software programs, probably too much.lol
