Has anyone ever left a negative feedback at the last minute to avoid a retaliatory one in return?

I used to wait till the last minute.
Now, I just hit them with a neg and expect a neg in return. <shrug> I don't like getting them but in the scheme of things...it warns other sellers to be wary of this buyer.
Usually when I hit them with a neg, they are more than happy to do a mutual withdrawal. The comment from my negative is still sitting on their feedback even though the neg isn't.

My impression has been that eBay has made it more difficult to leave a neg at the last minute. I don't remember the details though -- maybe the true "last minute" fluctuates?
I went to the ebay forums and found that the "last minute" can last up to a year in some cases and it opens the door for retaliatory feedback from the other party.
