listing pictures

for a listing i'm trying to compose, i want 1 pic to be the ebay header image and 2 different pics to use in the body of the ad. however, the ebay header image only seems to allow me to pick an image (x of 24) for that. and then its repeated 2x, once for the repeat of header and then as 1 of the image x of 24. make sense.
for this example i load 3 pics, image 1-3 of 24, then i select image 1 for the header, so image 1 appears in the ebay header, then i get images1+2+3, then i get image 1 again (the standard ebay repeat of the header), so image 1 ends up being displayed 3x, which looks dumb.
i'm using external images.
i thought i should be able to put up a pic for the ebay header only by using custom, but nothing seems to work.

Load your first two pictures and then choose your header image by clicking custom in the drop down box for the header image.

thanks for the reply, but that sequence is not working for me
1. invoke add pic for 1 of 24
2. add pic for image 1
3. while still in form add 2nd pic for image 2
4. click done and leave
5. in ebay header image drop down choose select custom
6. same form as 1-4 invoked add pic i want for header image
7. it is added as the 3rd image link
8. click done and leave
at that point in returning to the add listing form, the ebay header image drop down box has been automatically set to image 1. the 3rd image i added is gone from the list.????
some thing seems to be very wrong with this process at least for the path i'm following

Perhaps you could try picking the header image from the drop down box first. If that doesn't work, I'd file a support case. They are fast to help you.

Bob, I just managed to create a listing with 3 different images - 1 in the main body, a different one for the header, and a different one again for the gallery. Is that what you're after? It's as booklady says, after selecting the main body image, it will automatically appear for the header as well. just click the header image and select whichever one you want, it will then be a custom image. And then do that for the gallery image also. Does that do it? HTH.

something then major outawhack here
btw these are results in the preview, not an actual submitted listing, in case that differs
i also tried
1. add 1 pic for custom header
2. ok. great, have header, of course it appears a 2nd time after the desc
3. add a 2nd pic for the 1 of 24 image
4. after adding 2nd pic, when i return to listing form, the header selection has been changed from custom to image 1, so now i have image 1 in the header, image 1+2 after the desc and image 1 again. ?????
so either there is some precise sequence of adding pics and the custom header pic, or it just doesn't work when using external images instead of the auctiva image option

so it seems to be using external images instead of auctiva image service, i was able to get it to work using auctiva.
if somebody wants to try the external you can use these 3 images and see if you can somehow make it work

basically it always goes back to forcing image 1 of 24 to be the header, therefore causing it to be displayed 3x in the listing
