maintenence times wrong

On the main page it stated that the site was going down for 5 minutes at 10:30pm, it suggested I came back in 5 minutes.
5 minutes later I was given a message that said the site was down from 11pm and I should come back in 2 hours at most.
Nine and a half hours later and I am still being given the same message. It is refusing to let me log in.

have the updates taken longer than usual or is my computer showing me the same page without reason?

I was looking at PST and thinking it was GMT.
But still It's over the allotted time. I'll need to remember that the updates are done on thursday eve. 1st time I bulk upload happens to be the same night you update the site. Sods law!

It goes from around 10pm until 3am. PDT (GMT -8)

We're hoping to shorten it in the future with some database updates and changes in our architecture, but that's the way it's going to be for the next couple months at a minimum.

I have asked that we update our message to state 10am-3am Thursday night/Friday morning so that everyone will know that's when it's happening and how long it will take. It used to be accurate, but we just have so much more data to backup and work with it takes much longer now.
