I shipped off some Mint in Box Barbie dolls to France about a month ago. When the buyer was charged an import or customs fee she refused the package and it eventually was returned to me. Box had been opened by customs and was not securely retaped. As a result the boxes were damaged and some of them got water damage. In the meanwhile buyer filed dispute with pay pal claiming items were not as described because she did not know she would have to pay import fees. Pay Pal sided with her and gave her a full refund including shipping charges. As a result I am out the shipping charges, the dolls are not worth what they were because of damage. When I contacted Pay Pal to get an explanation they were very rude, said I could not appeal their decision and suggested I call the police.(?) All I want is an explanation as to why I am responsible for shipping charges when it is the buyer who did not live up to their end of the agreement. It is the buyers responsibility to pay import fees. As a result I am out about $200.00 for dolls I sold for $140.00. With boxes being damaged I will never be able to recoup my losses. All that and still no explanation. I do offer refunds for items that are not as described but that is not the issue here. Any ideas as to what I should have done differently? Perhaps Etsy? LOL
