Not understanding PRIVATE Auctions!?

Hi,
I just did my first private auction and clicked on the little box (Private) but the system did not ask for the buyers name. I tried to find information in the help area. Can someone explain the use of Private Auctions and how to use them properly? I thought using this option would only allow the buyer to purhcase my item, but when I look at my listings, it shows up for all to see. Many thanks!!!!

I think Private is a regular auction but the bidders' info is hidden from other bidders. I believe that's right.

If you're trying to set up an auction for just one person I know you can do a Buy It Now that way but I don't know exactly how..

private listings are listings that after you have given feedback you cannot check back what the listing was about, you use that if or when you are selling ebooks or recipes or porn dvds or porn vhs or other stuff that you dont want other people to see who check your feedback before they purchase something from you.

i would NOT recommend using this feature, as people tend to get paranoid when seeing a private listing ( it is the same as having a private feedback score )
