I have other insurance for quite some time and want to keep using them. I am using USPS calculating method for shipping and want to offer my other insurance at $1.50. For some reason, I can't make this happen. The other insurance radio button is checked (optional) but the cost is grayed out. How do I make this happen?

Hi,

I'll take a guess from recent experience with another seller using Cal'ed USPS rates and International?

Are you offering 1st Class International shipping? Since USPS doesn't provide Insurance for 1st Class International, eBay won't allow the Cal'ed rate to appear (at least not for Required Insurance). In eBay-think, there is no such thing as other Insurance carriers for USPS.

The work-around we discovered was to make the Insurance a Handling cost when required.

I don't know what offering Optional would do with International, but I can guess it would also have problems.

Danno,
My optional insurance is in fact for international insurance. I am using USPS priority mail shipping method. I am sorry but I don't understand the Cal'ed term you use above.

I would of thought that eBay would revert back to the standard USPS insurance rates for the basic insurance but that does not seam to be the case. Right now I am getting $1.70 for shipping to Canada but shipping to the UK comes in at $2.45 for the same item. The $1.70 seems correct based on the cost of the item.
