Please consider more carefully the impact on users when you revise the appearance of a page!
This morning (after your down time) when I closed the first listing I was working on, I saw two new, huge inserts on the navigation page. One asked if I was enjoying my free trial and suggested that I choose a payment plan!
Since I have been a paying subscriber from the beginning, I wondered why Auctiva was saying I was using a free trial. Had Auctiva changed its rules again? Was there some additional program I was required to pay for?
I quickly began to search Auctiva's message boards for news of yet another policy change. After finding none, and checking my account status, I eventually realized that the insert doesn't apply to me.
However, there is no disclaimer to this effect in the message -- plus, the box is so large, and its message seems so urgent, it caused me to have a mild panic attack! How difficult would it have been to carefully consider the impact this message might have on paying subscribers, and to add the words "If you're not already paying for a plan" , or some such?
Additionally, the insert (along with the second insert advertising Auctiva Commerce) dominates the page -- so much so that I now have to scroll down to access the last few links, which (of course) are the ones I use the most. What a pain!
So my suggestion is: please revise those inserts, add a disclaimer, cut them down to a reasonable size -- and get an outside (user) opinion before you post any more revisions!
Oh -- and thanks for the opportunity to vent!
