I just tried relisting an unsold auction item on ebay using the relist item link (all my listings are via Auctiva and have been for years using a custom template) and BANG I got charged a Picture Pack Fee for the listing from ebay. So I thought I'd try listing it as a new item from Auctiva - checked ebay prices before hitting the list item - I was to be charged 15p - great I listed it. Checked on ebay, yep item there with the photos, checked my account charge for the listing and BANG again a Picture Pack Fee has been charged. Is this a glitch between ebay & Auctiva? I believe you get more sales if you can use more photos on your listings but if I've now got to pay ebay as well I think I will carboot the lot. There is no writing on the photos but they were taken in the garden some time ago so the background is not plain white - could this really have affected my listings? It makes me feel like running away from the whole thing as it's becoming so time consuming trying to run a business this way.

No not having a white background in your photo doesn't hurt it as far as buyers seeing it or your search placement.

All the talk that is going on right now is about the templates and the HTML of the template possibly having an impact with eBay's new search engine.

As for the picture pack...uncheck the box inn your listings. To see what eBay charges for see their fees page.
Hi sandbagsragsnriches,

Thanks for contributing to our forum. You should only be charged eBay picture hosting fees when listing to the eBay UK site if you utilize the “Optional eBay Gallery Images” section on the Auctiva lister page to submit more than one image to eBay's picture hosting service.

These fees are detailed in the “Listing Upgrades” section of the following page of the eBay UK help index: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fees.html

However, while I was reviewing the eBay UK Help page a moment ago, I noticed a message indicating that eBay is currently experiencing a technical error that is causing some users to be charged for Picture Pack in error, which you can see by clicking the following link:

I hope this helps.

Many thanks for your help. I haven't changed any layout for months and have been happily listing via Auctiva for the last 2 weeks with no additional charges from ebay for the extra photos. The 'Optional Ebay Pictures' is and has always been unticked before I post the item to ebay and the Gallery Plus (free) is ticked on my ebay listings so I guess I must fall into the 'technical error' area & getting charged for the Picture Pack. It's putting me off listing items at the moment though just incase it's something else that's changed. I've sent a message to ebay customer services who will hopefully come back to me in 24 hours. I'll keep you updated though!
Thanks
Sandra
