I posted a listing on private a few days back due to being lingerie and I wanted my buyers to feel comfortable bidding w/o their names showing. I read in a post that you can check "private listing" on auctiva for it not to show names. I tried checking my listing by typing the brand name and narrowing it down to 3 days and 7 hours left. My item doesnt show...why is that? I want it to show but I also want it so that bidders names appear as y*****z (89) How can I do that?

Thanks

Your post is a little confusing...what do you mean you narrowed it down to 3 days and 7 hours? Anyway, not enough info to hazard a guess why the listing doesn't show Confused

But about making it private...You can read on any bidding history page that ALL bidders are now showing as y*****z except to the seller. The seller can see the actual user ID. (New safety feature) However, when the auction is over and there is a winner, the full user ID is visible to everyone. To actually make it a PRIVATE auction, the only way I could find to set this up is to revise your listing through Ebay. If there is a preference to set for this, I couldn't find it. When you click on revise, scroll down til you get to "Choose how you'd like to sell your item". Click the blue 'Add or Remove Option' link right next to it. The pop-up will give you the option to make it private...THEN when someone bids it will say bidder's identity kept private, or something like that. And yes, be sure to check the private box in Auctiva.

As far as why your listing doesn't show...no idea. Can you provide more info?
Normally when you list an item, it takes anywhere from immediately to 12 hours to become searchable...that's Ebay's fraud check and indexing (and yes it can be very frustrating) Every time you revise, the listing goes to the back of the line to be indexed yet again. That's probably what happened here, tho I'm sure it's searchable by now. Rule of thumb...if you can see it on your My Ebay page, it HAS posted and is just awaiting indexing Smile
