Pros/cons of Seller Details v Profiles

Still VERY SLOWLY getting to grips with listing through Auctiva and I am a bit confused about when to use Profiles as these seem to be duplicated in Seller Details.
I can see that the Seller Details are automatically included in every listing so presume that you would only need to use Profiles for info that may be specific to particular listings.
Is my thinking correct or am I missing something really basic here?

I just wrote a little on seller details vs. profiles here:

Basically, seller details are simply customizable text where you can write about how you ship, about you, etc.

Profiles, on the other hand, actually allow you to pre-set certain options of the One-Page lister.
Just to give you an example, I prefer Paypal, I almost always use USPS Calculated Shipping with Priority Mail & Parcel Post and I ship international. So I have all those things pre-filled in my Master Profile, so when I create a new listing from the profile I don't have to go through specifying what kind of shipping, payment methods, etc.
