Depends on what you thing a hassle is. Any place you have posted using your ebay id the link will be broken after 30 days so you need to lose that link or go fix them all.

Sort of. Anyone that has you bookmarked - will only find you for the next 30 days - after that the link is not good.
Keep in mind that your name will become available again - not sure whow much time - and when it does your competitor just might take it.
