We would like to get started on Auctiva very very soon. Here are a few questions that I need answered?

1. When we activate the Auctiva account and all of our active listings are transfered, is a profile automatically created for each active listing that is imported? (Because I already know that it will not import our inactive or archived listings)
2. Can we import our own custom template that we paid a company to create?
3. Can we reject PayPal payments with unconfirmed addresses automatically?
4. Can we protect our pictures from theft if they are hosted by Auctiva?
5. What automated emails are available (ie You won the auction, your item has sold, unpaid item reminders)? (I remember this was supposed to be in the update this month)
6. Can we set up automatic listings to set a specific number of an item to be on at all times, but to be listed at a specific time rather than right when one sells?
7. Do we specify what credit cards we will accept according to our credit card provider? (I think this is set up when we create our Auctiva account)
8. Do we create separate profiles for identical items based on where we will ship them?

We are really really excited to get started! Hope to hear back real soon and Thanks for all the help!!!

Hi Great Tunes,

1) Not quite...when your current eBay listings are imported into your Auctiva account, we will automatically create profiles based on 3 of those listings. If you would like profiles created for any specific listings, please file a support request and we will be happy to assist you!

2) Yes, you can add a custom template to your Auctiva template librbary by clicking the "Create(Custom Templates)" link under the "Listings" tab. On the ensuing page, paste your custom template HTML into the template editor, add the appropriate Auctiva tags for [DESCRIPTION], [IMAGES], etc., name your template, and save. You will then be able to locate this template in your Auctiva template library under the category "Custom".

3) There is not option within Auctiva to reject payments from bidders with unconfirmed addressed, however, if such a setting exists in your Paypal account, it will be applied to Auctiva created listings as well.

4) Yes, Auctiva offers image protection which can be enabled under the "Images" tab within your Auctiva account. However, this protection simply prevents IE users from being able to right-click your images to save them to their systems, so it is more of a deterrent than outright protection. The best way to protect your image from theft is probably to watermerk them before uploading them into Auctiva.

5) We just released customizeable email templates today! The only email that can be automatically sent is the "Winning Bidder" email. You can create a custom email by clicking the "Create Template" link under the "Sales" tab or you can use our default "Winning Bidder" email. To specify that you would like a "Winning Bidder" email to be automatically sent when your auctions are one, please click the "Auto Email Settings" link under the "Sales" tab.

You can also create "Address Request" and "Payment Remider" emails using the "Create Template" link under the "Sales" tab. Once you have created those, you can send them in bulk or individually using the "Email Buyer" button on your "Transactions" page, which can also be found under the "Sales" tab.

6) Not currently...however, we will be adding such a feature to the Auctiva website as part of our Phase II release, which is scheduled for May of 2007.

7) If you have an Authorize.net payment gateway to your merchant account, you can integrate it into the Auctiva Checkout portal to allow your customer to pay via credit card to your merchant account upon checkout. If so, please click the "Checkout Settings" link under the "My Account" tab, and enter your Authorize.net information in the provided fields. Once you have done so, when creating your listings, just check the boxes next to the credit cards you are willing to accept to your merchant account, and your buyers will be allowed to pay via that method on the Auctiva Checkout form.

Otherwise, you can accept credit card payments via Paypal, or request that your buyers who wish to pay via credit card contact you after winning so you can process their credit card information manually.

8) The types of profiles you set up are really dependent on the items you list. When you are creating a master profile, you would enter all of the information you would like to be prefilled on the lister page when you start a listing from that profile. If you have different classes of items for which you would like different information to be prefilled on the lister page, I recommend creating a separate master profile for each of those classes of items.

I hope this information proves useful. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Thank you Mike for Being so prompt!! It is really nice to know that questions are being answered so quickly.

Ok, now a couple more and I should have enough info for the boss.

1. If we sign up on a month to month and find that we really like Auctiva, can we upgrade to the yearly plan?

2. Does the checkout system mark the item as paid if the transaction is completed successfully?

3. Are Profiles on Auctiva like Item Categories in Seller's Assistant(clarinets, french horns, tubas)?

Thanks again for the help
Hi Great Tunes,

You're welcome!

1) Auctiva is actually a free service so there are not different plans for month-to-month and annual useage. When you find that you really like using Auctiva, just continue to use it Wink

2) Yes, once a transaction is completed successfully, the item will be marked as "Paid" on the "Transactions" page within your Auctiva account, as well as in your eBay account.

3) I'm not familiar with "Item Categories" in SA so I can't comment on whether or not they are the same as profiles in Auctiva. When creating a profile in Auctiva, you can enter any information you would like to be prefilled into the lister page when a new listing is created from that profile. Many sellers just use one master profile for all their listings, which contains their standard shipping and checkout information, as well as any other content that is consistent from listing to listing. However, other seller's create more refined profiles for different classes of items for which they would like different information to be prefilled in the lister page when a new listing is created.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
