Until today (2/25/07), I'd never seen a "Server Too Busy" message on Auctiva. But since about 10a.m. PST, that's pretty much ALL that I've been getting. I had plans to list a LOT of stuff on ebay today, but it doesn't look like that will be happening!!

AUCTIVA: please reply!!! better yet, please send out an email to everyone who's registered on your site to let us know what's going on and when it will be fixed so we don't have to keep checking this forum. Thank you!
I am still up and down. Filed a support ticket, got the same generic reply; Hi,

I apologize for the inconvenience. I would like to assure you that all our servers have been running smoothly. We are constantly monitoring them.
This issue sounds like it may be related to temporary Internet files stored on your computer. Please try clearing your cache .
Since I started using auctiva, I clear my cache daily. funny that no other site needs this to keep from getting server error messages
Ignore that error message. While it's somewhat accurate it doesnt reflect the true nature of the issue. We have plenty of servers and they are not too busy. It usually just means one of the servers got into a state where it used up more and more of it's resources until none or little were left. In a normal working situation the servers free up the resources they use as they finish the jobs they are working on. The usual cause of this message is a bug in the code that causes those resources not to be freed up as expected. You've probably all experienced this on your own computers before where the computer gets slower and slower until either it locks up or you reboot it. That's what someone is doing to this server now.

Since this is the busiest day since the launch of our new features Wednesday I'd venture to guess that may have something to do with it. Engineering can look into the logs more on Monday to find out. For now we'll just restart the computer and hope it doesn't happen again.

In the mean time these are working:

[edited: all servers are working now, please use: http://www.auctiva.com rahter than the specific IP's provided here before]

rlfuchs: could you post the support email address here? i'm sure a few of us would like to contact them. maybe if they hear from more of us who are experiencing the same problem, they'd believe us?

i did just manage to get ONE item listed!! i "accidentally" used firefox, but i can't believe that's what let me thru ... still ... who knows? i prefer firefox as a rule, but generally use IE for listing on ebay (whether i'm using ebay directly or auctiva). hey, it worked, and that's what counts!!

great*junque ... go check it out!!

I personally have been getting the "server too busy" message

I did not say you weren't. I received the message myself when connecting to the affected servers. What I said was to ignore that it's saying "server too busy" because that is a symptom, not the cause. i.e. Buying more servers would not fix this, we have more than enough already.
Auctiva was working in the UK fine in (our) morning. However, I noticed as the afternoon wore on, and more and more areas of the US 'woke up', the problem just got worse and worse. I agree I hadn't seen the 'server too busy ' message before. I do hope this problem is not going to return us to the bad old days of last Autrumn, when it was impossible to get anything much done on Sundays, unless one was up at the crack of dawn, UK time.
