Hi, I have been trying to schedule a Time Life World War 2 book collection for 2 weeks. The problem is that it is a collection of 39 books that weigh 90 pounds. So, it needs to be shipped in two 45 pound boxes. How do I specify this? If I list the actual weight of 90 pounds, it won't list it because it is over the limit of 70 pounds required by the post office. If I try to list a fixed price of $38.50, it won't list it because of the new ebay rules. If I list it as 70 pounds, then I am eating $10 to $15 and I don't think that is right either. How do I get around this? Thanks.

The new maximum shipping charges are causing problems for lots of people. The only way you are going to be able to list your books is by including some or all of the shipping cost into the price of the books. You can list as free shipping and include the whole cost in the price, list at flat rate and use the maximum (which I believe is $8 in you case!), or use calculated shipping and list at 70 lbs. In the last two choices, you would include enough in your price to make up the difference in actual shipping costs.

None of these solutions is perfect. You end up paying more Final Value fees which are based on the final selling price.

Big heavy collections such as yours are hard to sell on ebay because they often cost more to ship than they are worth. You may want to try a local listing such as craigslist instead, where the buyer could pick it up and not have to pay shipping.

Good luck.
