Due dilligence is especially important on Alibaba. There are a number of scammers on there - and Alibaba does NOT remove them. Gold status does NOT indicate a good vendor either - all it indicates is a willingness to pay Alibaba $7000pa! As some scams can be more than this it doesn't worrry the scammers...

Last time I looked there was quite a discussion of this in the Alibaba forums.

I have to agree with leok.

I found that there are thousands of scammers on Alibaba. Many of them have Gold status.

I lost quite amount of money on dealing with Gold status scammers from Alibaba.

Gold status does NOT indicate a good supplier.
