Dear Auctive, I love you dearly, but you are not exactly greased lightening when it comes to putting right a problem. It has been some time since eBay would not accept your listings if they used the flat ‘Special Delivery’ option from your domestic postage drop-down list. The advice I was given was to use "Seller's Standard Rate".
eBay have recently started to pull my listings if I use this term for tiny items such as jewellery, and quote £4.50 – on the grounds of ‘Excessive postage charges.’ I do state further down the listing that, for very expensive jewellery requiring insurance of up to £500, I send out using Special Delivery. eBay do not care, and reject my appeals – on the grounds that I used the term "Seller's Standard Rate" from your drop-down list. They are unable (or unwilling) to read any further than that.
Please, please can you add the two new Special Delivery options for us to use, to avoid these problems in future. You have had plenty of time to do something about this.

Hi eclecticoldsod,

I'm sorry to hear that. The reason it is taking longer than usual to correct this particular problem is because the necessary option is not available on the version of eBay's API that we are currently using.

Before we can fix this "bug", we have to upgrade all of our software to use the new version of eBay's API, whcih is a fairly laborious process. We anticipate having our systems updated to use the new version of eBay's API and, therefore, being able to correct this problem with our next site release, which should take place in mid-April.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the quick reply. I will look forward to downloading your next site release when it is available. Until then I will just not quote postage for jewellery, and let potential buyers email me for options. eBay have never objected to my other (larger) antique items at £4.50 before. I guess they equate jewellery to ‘small’ and therefore cheap to post, irrespective of value – just the sort of un-joined-up thinking one would expect from eBay these days.
BTW, I can’t praise Auctivia highly enough, and recommend it to everyone. It is one of the best, most useful sites on my computer – many thanks for it.
Regards, Eclectic…
