For several month now I've had a problem with the text moving from one spot in my listing to another when I save. Or when I switch back and forth between the two editors.

Info that I put in the middle, such as "Condition" suddenly appears at the top.

Also I'll center my text and when I save, it's all on the left.

I'll go to the HTML editor, insert <p align = center> in the correct spot which centers it. But when I SAVE the listing it's all on the left again and my HTML notation is gone.

I was also having a problem with my TOS repeating 3 or 4 times in a published listing, but that hasn't happened for several months now, (knock wood).

Anyone else?

Any solution?

Hi,

I have had that problem also, I filed a support request, the reply was not very useful, but they did tell me they had purchased the editor from http://www.fckeditor.net/ and that there may be more info available from there.

Basically I have to insert the center tag like you are doing, but it needs to be as close to the item you want centered as possible. Experiment with placing it at different locations.

Here is an example from one of my listings, for a picture...

</font></p><p align="center"><img alt="" src="http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/6/6/3/4/9/webimg/18677717_o.jpg" /></p>

I wonder what the common factors are for these problems. I've experienced similar things with the editor but only very rarely.

Make sure that you hit the Preview button to check your listings (even when it looks correct in the editor).

What browser are you all using?
Are you copying and pasting from Word? (sometimes problematic)

I'm really curious why some people would have serious issues with this and others wouldn't..
Hi,

When I first started having the problem, I tried I.E. and Mozilla browsers, both had the same problem. Maybe is it only happening to those who insert pics directly into the editor? My problem is the pics and sometimes the text will become aligned left when it is supposed to be centered, it is centered in the editor view, but if you hit preview, it shows up to the left. And also the space between pics or text looks good on the editor, but hit preview and the space is very little, so I have to go in and insert <BR><BR><BR> where I need more space. In other words, hitting the return (enter) button to create space in the editor sometimes creates the space in the editor, but when you preview or save, there is no space.

I finally figured out how to fix the paragraph formatting problem.

Where I have a stubborn problem with a para break, I do a hard return, and type "break" - without the quotes.

Then I go into the text editor (html) and search through all the gibberish - at least it is to me! Roll Eyes - and find the work "break". I then type in one of my few known html codes between the brackets: <br>

Finding the correct text and grabbing the correct brackets is tough, but after a few tries, I think I did it.

Of course, I am always surprised at how different the format looks on eBay as oppposed to here on Auctiva. Frown

And that is not a particularly easy way to fix a paragraph break!!!

I always check the preview - that's when I generally find the hard return didn't work...again and again and again...
Oh, and I had the problem when I typed text directly into the Description window or when I copy/pasted it from another auction. I generally didn't have a problem when I used Word, as long as I used the "clean up" window. As a matter of fact, I copied the messed up text from my Auctiva listing window, took it into Word, fixed it there, copy/pasted it back into the Auctiva auction description, which brought up the "clean up Word" window and thence into the final auction listing.

Pretty "Rube Goldberg." Shouldn't this be a little easier?
For the record, I've been here several months and always had the same problem.

If I feel very strongly about the layout, and feel it making itself left-justified would really ruin the feel of the listing, I have to go into eBay itself and alter it.

Strangely enough, I find the more I preview, the larger the chance of it jumping left for me??

This may seem really strange, but it has worked for me. You might want to try it too.

After I've done my descriptions and I am happy with it, before leaving the editor screen, I go to the very end of the description and place my cursor there instead of leaving my cursor somewhere in the middle on the description. Since I've been doing this, my descriptions text is always in the right places, just where I want them to be. No more text jumps and center becoming left!
Strange? Yup, I think so too.. but it works for me :-)
Hi. I recently got a new laptop with Vista and my listing formatting is jumping all over the place!!!! I'm using IE 7. I'm mostly using templates that have never given me a problem. I'm going to try putting my cursor at the end too. Hope it works... Am just wondering if this is a Vista compatibility issue??? I can still list with no issues when using my PC with XP on it. Go figure.
