Hi,

Using Firefox 3.0.8 (latest) on Windows XP, I couldn't recreate the problems.

Couldn't get failures with the Description box from either New or Saved listing and Create Similar.

Using Large Package and UPS, I got the size fields to work.

I also tested with IE7 and Safari (not supported) and got the descript box and shipping dimensions to sorta work with Safari. The description toolbar, HTML switch, and Full Size doesn't load with Safari, but I could type and change text.

Are you running Firefox on Mac? Alot of the listing page operates with Javascript, so a block on Javascript would cause problems.

Suggestion: Logoff the site and clear your browser cache and cookies, i.e. the Clear Private Data.

Well I went and cleared all that stuff except the cookies, and then when I opened the listing again, the item description box wasn't working AGAIN, and I started clicking around, and then it finally was, and the shipping dimension box still isn't working. I also am totally updated on the latest java as well. This is way frustrating, as I am UNABLE TO LIST ANY ITEMS because of these problems. Your gonna lose allot of people real quick if this keeps happening!

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you are having. We actually aren't experiencing any technical problems that would account for your inability to type in the description editor, so I suspect there is a caching issue or something else running on your end that is conflicting with that aspect of our software.

The first thing I recommend trying which may resolve that problem for you is to clear your cache and then close and re-open your browser. You can clear your cache in Firefox via the following process:

-> Please select "Clear Private Data" from the "Tools" menu, ensure the boxes next to "cache" and "cookies" are checked, and then click the "Clear Private Data Now" button. It is also important to ensure that only one browser window is open when you are doing this or your cache may not empty properly.

Also, Danno was spot on when he mentioned that the "Dimensions" fields can only be filled in when a shipping service is selected that requires dimensions (such as UPS Ground). If you are unable to enter dimensions when using a shipping service for which you should be able to select dimensions for, I recommend contacting our customer support team about that.

I would also recommend touching base with customer support if you continue to have trouble with the description editor after trying the measure I mentioned above. This problem has existed for at least a year and is often called "ghost description" on the boards. Auctiva has no answer for it except to blame the browser and go through the clearing nonsense. This never happened until they split up the listing screen to multiple parts where the description is loading from I think a different place than the rest of the screen. What I have found works best is to log out of Auctiva and close the browser. Just closing the browser doesn't work because you still may be logged into Auctiva when you go back to it. You must log out of Auctiva. You also sometimes get a popup box saying that something could not be found. I forget the exact message, but once you get that, you will no longer have descriptions in the description box. Just logout, close the browser and start over. One day I will figure out why the returns policy occasionally disappears. That's a bigger pain than the ghost description because you have no clue that it's happening until you try to schedule the item.....
Thanks guys, it seems to be just hit or miss. Auctiva, when it works correctly, is great, but it seems it doesn't work correctly as much as it does at times. I had to permanently disable auctiva checkout, because I had repeated problems with people being UNABLE TO PAY, and then I have to ask them to paypal me directly, and that's totally unacceptable, some people think it's a scam, and you can't risk that with eBay's unfair one sided seller feedback system. Anyway, I'd happily use Auctiva checkout if I could, but every time they say it's "Fixed", it happens again. I'm not taking any chances.
I agree with the previous post, wjohnnybgd is very right. Since around 4-6-09, Auctiva has been aweful. I used it for 6 months without ANY problems, since around 4-6-09 hardly ANYTHING works. I cant list items, cant use image selection, and item description box is not showing. What is going on???? Auctiva claims that its on our part and they dont experience technical difficulties, but how can so many members have the same problems??
I didnt change any programs and didnt do any updates on my comp, everything is the same as always but hardly anything works. I hope to get the old Auctiva back as it was before because it was perfect. Any help/feedback greatly appreciated.
