Hello everyone. I have been using Auctiva for quite awhile and really like its features. One thing that I have wanted to try lately is not having the link to supersize the pics in my auctions and just have them large already so that the potential customer does not have to click and wait. I'd like for the images to be bigger from the start. I'm not saying supersize large from the start. Just without the supersize link. Is that possible? And if so how do I go about in doing that? Is there a little check box that I have to check or uncheck during the new listing template? I'd appreciate some help on this.

Under the link for an Auctiva custom template there is an option on the bottom left under the add images tag called "Choose Image Type" it is a pull down menu. There is an option called Original Image URLs followed with the description

Insert image URL only. User will be responsible for all HTML img tags.

My question is will I be able to add my pics as I wanted with no supersizing link just a bigger pic with this option, and if so how do I get the
HTML img tag for them. Sorry for all these questions I am clueless to all the HTML know how.
Since I am also HTML clueless, I have not yet had the pleasure, or need, of customizing a template. If you just want to use an existing Auctiva template then the above instructions are very straightforward since you only need to work with the standard description box on the one-page-lister. What you want to do does not require you to customize a template. If you want to customize then I'm sure someone with HTML knowledge will be along to fully answer your customizing/HTML questions. Smile

PS - In regards to your selection of image type in the pull down box, you would want to choose "original images" in your case, assuming Auctiva is hosting your images. Again, you might want to work with a standard template just to simplify things until you get the process down, then try customizing if that's what you'd like to do. Just an idea.

Hi astcall4vintage writing listings as a way to learn HTML can be rather expensive, on the other hand if just want to sell items get to grips with standard templates first and get a book on HTML from Amazon in the meantime.

Big flashy DIY HTML listings are of debateable value in my book, first you need to get buyers to your listing, then provide them with good clear pictures, text, returns policy etc in a frendly unambiguous way. Then back that up with good packing comms and fast turn around, then they come back for more, this can be more difficult to optimise than creating a flash listing Smile

Why does everyone seem to want to run before they can even walk, beats me but there is a lot of it about lately Wink
Hi Choo - Good thoughts, I agree. Auctiva has a ton of great templates. It seems like this online selling business has so many important (should I say 'critical') components that have to be attended to first in order to be successful, that grinding away for hours on customizing a listing can be counter-productive to say the least. I'm not saying to not do it - I just think it has to be kept in perspective and done at an advanced stage of the process. Cool
