Ayi yi yi, I spent all day yesterday attempting to post to ebay. First I received api errors when attempting to post, but then I figured out that the word PayPal anywhere in the template caused that problem. So I removed it and now I keep getting the below-mentioned error:

Invalid character(s) were detected in your description, your ad was not posted to eBay.

Funny though, I was able to get ONE item posted successfully, so I figured ok, I'll use this as my master template since it worked, but low and behold back to the same problem (i.e., invalid character errors.) I'm using plain text, nothing fancy in the description. Submitted an email to customer support. Updated my token as requested, insured no problems with my ebay or paypal account, using the latest Firefox browser, but still a no go. Anybody got any suggestions while I wait for customer service to respond...hopefully they respond with a workaround that actually works!

Well, I got so excited, thought "Man! I'm on a roll now." Got 1 more item listed and thought my troubles were over. What a joke! Anyway, I got the 1 item listed by removing ALL quotes anywhere in the sellers template. I thought my problems were over, but apparently not. I tryed submitting a listing without using the sellers template and it posted. So back to the drawing board, something in the template is holding me back. I'm going to give it another good hour, but if that doesn't do it - then forget Auctiva. I've got a business to run!
Hi litebright,

This error usually crops up when copying/pasting from Microsoft Word because that program likes to insert "special" characters (like those quotation marks, if you look closely you might notice they actually look different from regular quotes.)

In our release early next week we should be helping to resolve this issue by automatically replacing those special characters with valid ones for you when you save your ad.

I apologize for the inconvenience in the mean time Frown

Something I've just started doing is writing my listings ahead of time but doing so within the design editor on the Auctiva listing page. When I've finished I switch to text mode, right click to Select All and then save the description to Notepad. Then when I'm ready to create the actual listing I switch the editor to text mode and copy from Notepad. No problems that I've noticed yet -- I assume because this means pasting in straight code rather than formatted text, if that makes sense.
glad to hear working now.

also, if you accidently shut down notepad++ before saving the file, it will remember the info and show it to you again when you reopen notepad++ (if it prompts you to save and you say no, then it doesnt bring it back, but if notepad++ simply gets closed without going through the save routine, then it does bring it back)
