Obviously I am new. HELLO everyone and happy selling! So what I want to know is, is there a way to create a template like with some borders or somethuing that I can basically plug auction listing info into when I want to sell something? If so, how? and what is a master profile, and how do I make one? Thanks!

Hi,

Welcome!

Profiles and Templates can be confusing. Let's see if I can shed some light....

A Template is both the background and effects used in a listing and it provides structure to the description content including picture placement. You can use one of Auctiva's ready-made templates with lots of wonderful themes, customize one (of theirs) to your own liking, or build your own using their template builder with you own HTML. As good example, you could take one of Auctiva's templates and embed a header for your Store logo. Also, a template only defines structure for code that is embedded in the eBay defined Description section of the listing, i.e. it sets pattern and placement for assembly of that section only.

A Profile is essentially pre-canned content, which is integrated in the listing or can be used as action on a listing. The easiest example to grasp the concept is a Profile for Shipping. If you commonly ship using a flat rate and/or shipping methods, you can create that (just like in the lister) as a pre-built Profile for Shipping. The Profile simply makes it easy to rapid build or change a listing by taking a predetermine set of entries for fill-in for the various sections. You simply select a Profile to integrate on the lister. In that last example, it would be a big time saver to only have to change the code one place, the Shipping Profile, to effect a change to all listings stored using that Profile. A Master Profile is a composite set of the different selected profiles (like assembling a jigsaw puzzle).

You can modify and create Templates at the Listings tab page (lower right).

Profiles are at the Profile tab. Note the add of the new Auto-Relist profile. I mentioned action as well as content. Auto-Relist is a profile to do auto-relist(action) on a listing after close. That one sorta breaks the content mold, but it is a function associated with a listing.

I hope that helps and doesn't confuse.

Hi Plussizetreasures,

Welcome to Auctiva! Danno's response is right on the money, however, I feel inclined to chime in to provide you with some specific instructions on how to create profiles within your account and use them when creating listings through Auctiva. In order to create Profiles for use in your Auctiva listings, first, you'll want to create profiles for each of the 4 individual profiles by clicking the "Profiles" tab within your account, and creating profiles for each of the components of the lister page.

Begin by clicking on the "Item Details" link on the profiles page and enter any information in that section that you'll want to load into each of your auctions. Most of the information in the item details section will vary from listing to listings, so the only thing you want to include in this section is any text you want to appear in the description of all your listings. If you'll be using the same template for all your listings, you may want to select the template as well. Once you have filled out this information, name you item details profile and save.

Next, click the "Marketing Tools" link on the profiles page. If you want to use the gallery feature in all your listings, check the box next to "gallery", name your marketing tools profile and save. Then, click the "Shipping Tools" link on the profiles page and enter your shipping information. Name your shipping tools profile and save. Next, click the "Checkout Options" link on the profiles page and fill out your checkout information. Name your checkout profile and save.

Once you have saved all 4 of these profiles, you'll want to combine them into a master profile. To accomplish this, click on the profiles tab and then "Master". Select each of the 4 profiles you just created from their respective pull down menus, name your master profile, and save.

Once you have done this, you can load your master profile at the beginning of creating your listing and all the profile information will be loaded into the listing. Just select your master profile from the master profile pull down menu at the top right of the page and click "Load". Or, you can choose the appropriate master profile from the “Create new listing from Master Profile” pull-down menu under the “Listings” tab, and click the adjacent “Go” button. Then, the lister page will be pre-filled with the information contained within the selected profile once loaded.

Hi,

The current Auctiva Store is restricted to only show eBay listings by eBay policy, since it links from their site. Same goes for the Scrolling Gallery on your eBay listings.

Auctiva has informally mentioned (in the Forum) possible introduction of true eCommerce Store by sometime in the fall. There you could list any merchandise you chose. I'm running a Poll on the subject in the Store and Store Window section of the Forum.
