I'm reading through this board right now trying to better familiarize myself with this system and to notice if anyone has experienced any of the issues I've been having (and the responses/answers they were given) so I can learn how to resolve the issues, anyway that said, I keep seeing this term 'watermark' in reference to pictures.

I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question, but what is a watermark?
A Watermark is simply any text or logo or copywrite notice you put across your image (Usually in a very "busy" part of your picture) to protect it from being copied of of your Ebay Auction page or website. That way if anyone does try to steal your image, the watermark is also printed on it so when they print it...it is permanently printed on their copy... making the copy useless for them to try and use for their own or for resale or to grab off of Ebay for free. The reason you put it in a "busy" place on the photo is to also make it extremely difficult for someone to try to remove the watermark from the image before printing without messing it up.

Hope that helps
