Do you know...as I am thinking I could close the store at ebay and build one thru auctiva? I am starting the selling process again, just this week. I am at least thinking it would be cheaper, and I know how to promote it=)
Is that what others are doing? Closing thier ebay store & solely using what auctiva freely offers? ( THANKS AUCTIVA btw...)
Thanks Diana
The Auctiva store does not really replace your eBay store. The reason is that it doesn't actually function as a store - you cannot stock it with items, or buy directly from it, as with your ebay store, rather it is more of a gallery which merely displays your active ebay listings. Full store functionality is on the list of future upgrades.

So if you really intend to build your ebay business, your ebay store, with all its numerous benefits, is an essential part of that process. After all, you are selling things on eBay, not on Auctiva. Currently, Auctiva is primarily a listing service, with the gallery and store as promotional devices.

This recent post has some good insights on this subject:

I am keeping the store on Ebay, and Auctiva. My plan was to move whatever didnt sell after 30-60 days auction over to a store ( like I used to do). I keep it or 1/2 yr & donate ( or destroy it LOL) after 6+ months. I am lucky that I have a former bedroom to use for ebay, this room is 15x20 ft~! I put bookcases & tables in there just last week. So I've got soo much to list it aint funny=)
My goal is 2-3 items per day till I get the hang of this again...Diana

ninth_wave well it wouldn't be nice if Auctiva made this point clear when a person signs up for their services. Here I am cancelling my services of my other store host because I thought this host would be better. I mean what's the point. Auctiva is basically a glorified image hoster.....

I'm mad...

Hi mediapusher - The following description is from Help>FAQ's>Store:

"What is my Auctiva Store?
Your Auctiva Store is a collection of all your active listings (auction, fixed price, and store listings). You can customize your store and then promote the domain name to drive traffic to your store."

This rather sparse explanation, while accurate as far as it goes, certainly should be expanded in my opinion, as it doesn't really answer the many questions that a new member needs answered. I think much of the confusion is due to the fact that it is called a "store", so people naturally equate it with eBay's "store", while in fact there are fundamental differences. Maybe it should be called "gallery" to avoid this confusion.

I did a forum search of "Auctiva store" and found many posts asking the same question: "What is the difference between the Auctiva store and the Ebay store?" Here are a few of the many posts that offer some insight:

I would say that Auctiva is certainly more than just a "glorified image hoster", the store and scrolling gallery are great promotional features, but Auctiva was never meant to be a independent selling site. Since the Auctiva store is linked to your ebay listings, it may not be possible for it to function as a standalone selling site since this would violate ebay's rules against linking to outside sales venues.
