I wanted to respond to a recent posting about the Auctiva insurance issue but the topic was closed. I hope that doesn't mean it's an "off limits" topic.
With my first week of listings I already ran into this confusing insurance issue. I had an international buyer. My eBay settings are set to only offer insurance to US purchasers.
But the international buyer used Auctiva checkout, and was able to add the insurance anyway. OK, I thought that was not a big deal, but then I printed a Paypal packing slip, and it stated "0" on the insurance line. So I had to hand-write on the invoice that there was indeed insurance (since the buyer mentioned and Auctiva showed they had bought it) and to overlook what the packing invoice said.
So I'm concerned that either way I look like an idiot or a liar to the buyer.
Is it that difficult for these sites and programs to be synched or at least somewhat consistent? They certainly seem to have no problem transferring money back and forth between them, so why do details like this fall through the cracks?
More importantly, what should my settings be on each site or how should I handle this in the future to avoid more potential mix-ups?
