Why did my images upload as GIF files?

I upload both GIF's and JPG's... I use GIF's in my listings for buttons and small graphics (like the PayPal logo for example) for transparency or because they are smaller and all of my pictures are in JPG format (cause they look better).

I've been uploading both, and when I upload them they stay in their original format.

The only reason I can think of that happening is if the images are really GIF and not JPG.

The name you see at the end of a file doesn't mean it's that type of file. For example I could create a document in Microsoft Word and save it as: mydocumunt.doc Then I can rename it to mydocument.jpg. That doesn't make it a jpg, it's still a .doc file internally.

When our image uploader opens your image to resize it and save it onto our system it must be finding out that it's really a GIF and then saving it that way.

Or there is a bug. We'd the original images sent to us so we could try uploading them and seeing for ourselves.
