Why isn't my image usage decreasing?

I've deleted hundreds of photos and then have gone through into deleted and removed them from there permanently but my image usage size hasn't changed? That doesn't seem possible?

View your "Deleted Images" on your image management page, and click the boxes next to them. Once you've done this, hit "permanently delete".
