Once an auction ends, I do not need to have the images hosted anymore. If I delete them during the month, does the 1 meg limit for free hosting only apply to what is left on the server at the end of the period or the total that was ever hosted? I usually have more than 1 meg of images saved each week. I want to avoid any fees, so do I just have to use smaller images or fewer of them?

I have been asking that question to the customer support for the last 2 days So far they say if you DELETE unnecessary images that your total will go down and you will be billed by what remains at the 1st of the month.

Now considering the fact that I spent over 3 hours on the phone with them day before yesterday about IMPORTING LISTINGS and problem I was having. I gave up had a beer and figured it out in less than 3 mins. while on my own. That leads me to question the support quality and any thing they say.

My current question to them is what is a reasonable size picture to upload that will conserve on space but still give a big enough picture to have value when enlarged. They are at a loss so far.

My understanding of this was, whatever your peak amount of mb used during that given month is what you would be billed for, not what amount you have left at the end of the month.

For most items I would say at least 640x480, any lower resolution would certainly defeat the purpose of SUPER SIZING.

So which is it...the mb I have left at the end of the month, or the amount I had before deleting a lot of pictures?

I have been wondering the same thing that you all seem to be talking about. I believe I will resize my pictures so that saves on the amount of usage but I have one more question. Am I right in assuming that I can delete my images once an auction has posted to eBay? If I do that daily then my peak usage shouldn't be to bad should it? Thanks all!

Once you delete your image its gone from the listing. You can test this by deleting one. go to ebay listing and it will be gone. Go to deleted pics and restore it and it will be back
Well, I have gone to my ebay store and all my listings have their pictures. I spent the day deleting thousands of pictures off of Auctiva. What a job! Since I have over 1400 items in my store it was difficult to remember just which ones I needed to keep and which ones I could delete so after checking my listings on eBay I decided to just let them go. So far so good.
I guess if any do show up without pictures I will just have to redo them and add them back in. Let's hope not! I wanted to get my GB's down so all I new to do was to delete everything. The automated delete thing they have didn't seem to be working for me but it doesn't matter now as they are nearly all gone. I only kept pictures of items I had not yet listed. I am now donw to less than 6MB when I was up to 1.52GB! Let's hope this is all worth it and that Auctiva can keep from shutting down on us like is sometimes has in the past. :-(
Well I Have determined we are pretty much on our own. For auctivas sake lets hope they have the technical issues fixed for good by July 1st. People are not gonna put up with it anymore since they are now paying. I actually am creating a back up plan as I have lost faith completely.
Ive always backed up all my images on a external hard drive in case something major happens. I didnt have faith 2+ years ago and definitely not now.
Once I delete the 200+ books ect from ebay and wipe the images clean of auctiva I should be down below 1GB.
My advise to all ALWAYS HAVE A BACK UP PLAN
Well, it has happened to me as well. Last night I noticed that some of my gallery pictures were not showing up. Only 7 out of 1400 plus so I wasn't too upset. Then this morning, by accident, I discovered that even if the gallery picture is there, some of the listings are missing pictures internally. I have a LOT in that condition. Since I spent 2 days deleting pictures I am not going to be spending 2 days restoring them!! Once that is done then I will have to go through them one by one and get rid of only ones that have definately sold and been delivered. I used to delete my pictures off my computer once uploaded but that won't be the case any more! Now I have to save them all for things just like this. UGH!!!!!!
