I just received a bill from Auctiva for $20 for insurance. These are for items I DID NOT PURCHASE INSURANCE FOR THROUGH AUCTIVA.

HELP! If I have a setting that is wrong, please advise. I have purchased insurance through Auctiva, but only for select items -- not each and every one. For normal shipping, I always purchase insurance through paypal.

I am going to try to disable all use of Auctiva until I have this issue resolved --- I can't afford to be paying double insurance on shipments.

Thank you.
J. Bailey

PS I evidently posted this in the wrong forum. Since then, I have been all over the Auctiva Site trying to figure out why I am being billed for insurance not purchased. Someone -- steer me straight, please!!!!

Hi,

If you are using eBay checkout, check your Auctiva Account settings for Shipping Insurance and see if you have "Auto-Purchase Insurance" enabled.

If you are using Auctiva checkout and have agreed to use of the Auctiva Shipping Insurance program, purchase is automatic. If that's the case, you could disable use of Insurance.

I do not use Auctiva Checkout. I just went to my Account, and use USE AUCTIVA SHIPPING INSURANCE is marked -- which I was told I had to do in order to use it whenever I needed.

Then I went to AUTO PURCHASE INSURANCE ... and lo and behold, it is marked as well. This is something I must have done, but I truly don't ever remember changing any settings whatsoever. I have been using Auctiva insurance periodically and never had this problem before.

So, if I just want to use insurance at my discretion, I guess I need to check USE AUCTIVA SHIPPING INSURANCE and then disable AUT0-PURCHASE INSURANCE...right?

If you are using eBay checkout, that's correct (disable the auto-purchase).

That's how I use to use the insurance until the auto-purchase was made available and I had time to test it. Frankly, the Auctiva insurance is a great program at a better price for your buyers (FOR USPS ONLY). I'd drop buying the USPS and stick with Auctiva. If you are using PayPal Click'n'Ship, just uncheck the Insurance when you buy the labels....that's what I did.

Okay, so it is making a little more sense. I don't use Auctiva enough to figure it all out. I tried using the checkout a long time ago, but the buyers were totally confused, there were so many problems, I immediately dropped it and never came back. Then, somehow, I got on to the Auctiva Insurance --- which has helped especially with some of my international first-class shipments.

So, you don't purchase insurance through Paypal ... turn on Auctiva Auto Insurance ... and it automatically does it. Geez, were my customers getting notices that insurance was purchased from Auctiva? Lord, they must think my brain is totally lost in cyberspace!!!

I may give it a try. I had no recourse but to pay the 20.00 to bring my account up-to-date -- which certainly didn't save me much in the long run!!!

Thanks so much!
I think when you use Auctiva to list on e-bay and make insurance optional or required, if your customer chooses insurance Auctiva user agrement requires you to purchase insurance through them. They charge you less for the insurance and generate an e-mail for your customer which you need to send as proof of insurance. They advise to make sure you do not choose innsurance through your shipping site because you will be buying it twice. I find it easy to use and have made extra dollars from insurance kick backs. I'm not sure if you can chose not to buy their insurance once you use their software to laod items. I'm not assosciated with auctive other than that I use their site to list me e-bay item because it's easiler and cheaper. I hope this helps.
