We are currently updating our website and database to add new features and fix bugs. This process usually takes 5 minutes for an update. However it can take up to 2.5 hours during our database maintenance period: Thursday nights starting at 11PM PST.

In the meantime you can find answers to any questions you might have on our Community Forums.

Sorry, but we do maintenance when our site is the slowest. That is 10pm - 3am GMT -8. PST. California time.

That happens to be the middle of the day elsewhere in the world, and 3 people here complaining.

If we did it at 3pm our time 300 people would copmlain.

We want to eventually reduce the time back to 2 hours a week once a week, but for now we need to do this. The result will be a faster site all week long, and more reliable. We're cleaning up the DB of tens of millions of records it doesnt' need and that means a better DB the rest of the time. If we didnt do it eventually the site would slow to a crawl and nobody would use it. It has to be done, and we're doing it at the time that inconviences the fewest people.
Totally understandable. If I lived where you do and it was the middle of the day I'd be pulling my hair out too. If I didnt shave my head at lesat I would be. Smile

Epiphany... maybe that's why I started shaving it just around the time we started working on our new Auctiva site 18 months ago. Smile

eBay used to do their maintenances for years from 1am - 3am GMT -8. Then they went to 11pm-1am. I used to do ours for around 5-6 years at that time. Once a week, every week I'd stay up till 3am+ doing it. It's horrible. Now eBay has spent tons of money and doesnt have these maintenance windows visible to users. That's great! It makes them a lot more money. I totally see why they do it. Unfortunately for us we have 1 database, not dozens, and we have to work on it once a week to keep it optimized. We want to improve this in the future to spread things out and do as much as we can without being offline, but that takes planning, time, servers, a lot of money.
Hi guys! I'm also having difficulty accessing the site, getting the same message as Lisa2034. I'm based in Sydney (GMT+10) and have been trying tonight and also yesterday night at this time... So thats over 24 hours with the same 'maintenance message'. Whats going on? Is it Auctiva Australia that is having problems? Are you up now at Sydney time 9pm (GMT+10)??? Thanks...
