I like to copy from old listings to generate new ones. But I went to do this today and all of the "descriptions" are gone. Everything else seems to be there. Anyone know what might have happened?

if the above wasn't your issue then perhaps the listings you are copying are older before eBay changed the Categories a few months back. If that is the case than you are out of luck as all the Item Specifics disappear because there is no longer a valid category
No...the category changes did not effect the descriptions at all. The only thing it changed was the category/item specifics as those needs to be fixed/changed to the new appropriate category and to re-enter new item specifics.

When they changed my clothing categories the descriptions and photos did not delete. I had few jewelry items on recent change and descriptions were fine.
Like trinkets said, ONLY the category & specifics had to be updated.
IF these listings are less than 90 days old you can go to ebay and pull up the listing specifics and drag/drop them to proper auctiva box. You may have to add a couple that were not on old page.
IF they are over 90 days old you will have to re-do the Category and SPECIFICS only in the new category. Most of that would probably be in your listing to pull from.

sorry senior moment sometimes I switch the Description and the custom item descriptions in my mind
