I'm thinking about disabling Auctiva checkout. Would it be prudent to let my current listings run their course and start new? Also, if I disable Auctiva checking, do I have to do anything to ebay settings? I never changed anything to the ebay settings when I enabled Auctiva's checkout. I had several multiple item buyers yesterday and checkout was an absolute nightmare. Thanks for any help.

Hi Squeegie,

Auctiva checkout is currently unable to combine invoices but we should have support for combined invoices in place in the next couple months.

If you disable Auctiva checkout, any listings you post thereafter will go through eBay checkout. You won't need to make any changes on your eBay settings page.

However, your listings that were posted through Auctiva while Auctiva checkout was enabled will still go through Auctiva checkout.

I hope this clears things up=)

Mike,
When I get an Item Sold email from eBay, I click "Send Invoice". Next time it happens, I'll ask my customer if they are trying to pay me from the eBay invoice, or an Auctiva notice, and what exactly the error message says.

I just find it odd that the only people who are having problems are from listings pre-Auctiva checkout turn off.

(Also, listings where I used ebay SYI are working fine as far as payments go).

Weird, huh?
Hi blueskies,

Hmmm...Since Auctiva checkout is integrated with eBay checkout, I believe when you send an invoice through eBay, when the customer rreceives it they are directed to the Auctiva checkout. I don't see why they shouldn't be able to pay in that manner.

If you find out what error message they are receiving, please file a support case using the appropriate link on our help page to let us know.

I'm confused. What benefit is there to use Auctiva's checkout over Ebay's checkout.

I currently have 3 open invoices from buyers and I am wondering if they are having trouble paying through Auctiva. I am a smaller ebay store so 3 buyers at one time is a lot for me.

If there is no benefit or difference then I will change all of my future listings to be ebay checkout.
I really regret trying Auctiva out. This is a nightmare. There are two of us listing on two computers from our home. One of us used eBay to list items and the other used Auctiva. None of our customers who won the items listed using Auctiva are able to pay for them.

Now we are worried that if we relist the Auctiva items that didn't sell, even if we relist them through ebay, that when they do sell they will have the same Auctiva checkout problem. If we turn off Auctiva checkout will they still use Auctiva checkout when they are relisted?

Is there a way to force our sold items that are unpaid to revert to ebay checkout? I read though all the related threads on this forum and can see that this has been a problem from the start with Auctiva and the claims that it has been fixed are untrue.
New question,

I was looking over my site settings on ebay and noticed the section called: Third-party authorizations. It says: "You have authorized the following third party applications to perform certain actions on eBay on your behalf."

If I check the box to revoke this authorization for Auctiva will all the listings I listed using Auctiva automatically revert to using eBay checkout when they are won and automatically revert to ebay control when they are relisted?
I just disabled my Auctiva checkout because (1) too many customers can't access it - yes, my payPal is configured correctly, - (2) Auctiva customer support says there is no problem when looking at these boards indicates there most certainly is and has been for sometime. I was told that my solution of sending a PayPal invoice was a really smart thing to do Roll Eyes And it upsets customers.

I just got an email today from Auction Bytes saying eBay will not allow any third party checkout after June 15 so the issue seems to be moot.

I just read about the third party checkout being banned on ebay. By disabling Auctiva checkout you are sending invoices through Paypal? Have you ever sent them through ebay?

Since we don't upsell or have a website linked to Auctiva, I am curious as to why we won't be able to use Auctiva checkout after June 15th.

But is Auctiva third-party since it's owned by ebay?

I didn't know Auctiva was owned by eBay. Can someone at Auctiva answer this question please.

To my knowledge Auctiva is not owned by eBay. In the Auction Bytes eMail it was mentioned specifically as one of the 3rd party checkouts that would be affected.

I used eBay invoices with no problem before using Auctiva.

eBay evidently wants to be able to capture more data from transactions.

"Update 4/15/09: I received an email from eBay spokesperson Usher Lieberman today stating: eBay is narrowing access to third-party checkout to approved providers and has asked these third-party checkout partners to update their user interface or UI to conform with a set of guidelines provided by eBay. This DOES NOT involve any changes to the third-party checkout functionality consistent with eBay listing policies and existing legal agreements, just to the user interface. Some of the approved third-party checkout partners may opt out of these user interface changes, in which case they will need to begin using eBay Checkout. I asked for further clarification, Usher Lieberman has yet to reply.

eBay did in fact post an announcement in reaction to this article stating it is not doing away with third party checkout in June. However, they failed to provide details and have yet to explain the effects of these changes. "
I think the indecisions and directional changes by eBay are in part responsible for why Auctiva hasn't put alot of resources into updating Checkout. Throwing alot of money into redesign or expansion, equipment, etc. just doesn't make sense with the eBay policy ax dangling for CUTOFF this past year. Even Jeff commented in the Forum awhile back (in response to the cutoff) on their failure to understand what was needed to fully take back that service. Do they ever look before they leap over there? Eek

I'm hoping this "direction" finally gets that situation into a better planning mode at Auctiva for those using the service. If eBay is finally accomodating the issue, then Auctiva and the other 3rd parties can get-on with the business of making it work well.
