Heh heh heh...I knew that would stir up some people. The fact is, I can't stand eCrater's way of handling shipping charges, and no calculated shipping. Can you do combined shipments? At the very least, I don't see why we are given no freedom as to fonts and sizes, or even styles on our own product description pages. I can live without HTML , though I'd rather not. This feedback thing just muddies the water, too IMHO. Whatever became of the Dmitri that was so helpful and responsive that you all invited him onto SD's forum to keep everyone up to date? Is this another one of those "all I gotta do to wipe out the competition is give it away" kind of deals.

So far, the main advantage I can see to eCrater is it's ability to get you into search engines and the fact that customers don't have to be a member to purchase from you. But is the search engine stuff that hard to do from elsewhere?

Do any of you have any experience with other easy to use web-store sites that give you a little more freedom, and maybe have a little better options for calculating and combining freight (and insurance?) that don't cost an arm and a leg? Or maybe some software to set up a store on my own website that is simple enough for a dumb cluck like me to operate?

Nice template. I built my own website as well, but I'm not selling from it yet. Waiting for a bunch of product orders to come in before I promote and sell from it. Mine is based loosely off of a template...but most of the work is my own. The complete thing is done, but I only have so much of it on the web. Ask me if you have problems...I'm a fair webmaster. (not a "master" yet)

CB...onto some serious discussion on this subject.

You do have your own domain name, right?
<nudging you forward to purchase one>

Gimme a month. I've got some irons in the fire so to speak...to learn oscommerce. Once I learn, I can walk you through setting up your own store, not just linking it back to eBay or ecraters.

Peace,
Donna
Thank you -- That would be real swell of you. Oh, and yeah, I think I still have a couple I keep renewing every year.

I used to have an anonymous one that I used to foment an uprising and wage psy-ops against the school superintendent in the next town south of here. I let it expire after they forced her to quit. And move away. Remind me to send you some excerpts someday. After the statute of limitations expires.

Bomb, bomb, bomb...bomb, bomb, Iran!
Bomb, bomb, bomb...bomb, bomb,
Oh Bomb Ira-a-an!
Let's take a sta-a-and,
Bomb Ira-a-an.
Well our country's got a feelin'
Really hit the ceilin', bomb Iran.
Bomb, bomb...bomb, bomb Iran.

Went to a mosque,
gonna throw some rocks.
Tell the Ayatollah...
"Gonna put you in a box!"

<refrain>
Bomb Iran. Bomb, bomb...bomb, bomb Iran.
Bomb, bomb...bomb, bomb Iran.
Well our country's got a feelin'
Really hit the ceilin', bomb Iran.
Bomb, bomb... bomb, bomb Iran.

Ol' Uncle Sam's
gettin' pretty hot.
Time to turn Iran
into a parking lot.

<refrain>

Call the volunteers;
call the bombadiers;
Call the financiers,
They better get their a** in gear and

<refrain>

Call on our allies,
to cut off their supplies,
Get our hands untied,
and bring em' back alive.

<refrain>

<solo> a-Bomb, bomb, bomb..bomb, bomb Iran.

Cool CB...Is that bomb Iran song original? I likes it....I likes it a lot...what can I say...I was infantry...I've got that destructive side.lol

Anyway, fyi, I've got a fair programming background, and I'm pretty good with Macromedia's Dreamweaver MX suite. (thats what I recommend for website development) I use a PayPal Cart integrated into my site called an "iCart" The only reason I'm not selling from my independant site yet is that I've been brokering deals with some of the largest software and hardware suppliers, and in-turn brokering financial support, hence, I don't have the raw quantity of product I want to launch a site of the caliper I'm trying to create....whew....mouthful!!!

Anyway, I'll answer questions as best I can, feel free to email me at: webmaster@appleharvestcomputing.com
Actually, that song was recorded by Vince Vance and the Valiants in 1979, during the hostage crisis.

I may very well take you up on your offer of help. I can hold my own as far as HTML and CSS goes, however where I need the help is with scripting so I could have have a shopping cart like the PayPal cart, but with a simple interface for listing the items and linking to images, like eCrater. Something my wife could handle. Bulk listing would be a help, too.

Best regards,
CB
