This is my first time trying to add a custom template someone made for me to Auctiva. That person is not familiar with Auctiva but is with eBay. I am not html/template literate so I could really use some help as how to get this set up.

I keep getting an error that says "one and only one description tag only" I have no idea what this is what to delete or add....what to look for. I am just copying and pasting my template html instructions into the create box. When I preview it...it is fine but when I try to save it to use in my private custom templates it comes with this message. I had tried to guess and delete/add etc...several different ways to no avail....can anyone help me or direct me. Thanks...I am feeling Red Face about it right now.....

I'm new here too! They are right, you have to change your html tags so they will work here. I also had one template that did not have the [DESCRIPTION] tag in it, and had to go back and add one so it would work. Wink

I just put my html in notepad and went through and changed all the tags that needed to be changed. Goes very quickly! You can do it in Microsoft Word, but watch out for smart quotes. Razz

or one of this tag- [DESCRIPTION_AND_IMAGES]

But you cannot have both or two or more of either in your listing. So basically you must choose one or the other and have no duplicate of it in the html coding.

yes, that is what I needed...but I didn't have any not too many as I was thinking the error message stated. Jka

essentially, it means that you have two auctiva description tags in the template, so the system doesnt know where to put your description (since there's two different places indicated)

That is how I took the error message as well, but it meant that I didn't have one at all and at that point I did not know where or how to put one it. I do now. Learned something new Eek
** Hi, I am also having the same problem but I can't seem to find where I have more than 1 description tag! Can someone help me please?? **

Here is the problem that I am having:

I am still having problems with my template and images showing up. I think I finally figured out what's going on. I know my images are uploaded from 11/05 and when I reloaded the images up last night and tried to insert them it worked better. Here is what the old template looks like with all the voids:

But this is what the new one looks like and its supposed to look like because all the template images show up and no "x's" are showing up.

Now my problem is that I can't put it and save the new templating. Its coming up with a error message saying: "You must have one and only one description tag in your template"
PLEASE HELP! Also, does your images expire within a certain time period on auctiva??

Thanks in advance for all your help! Please get back with me soon!
Hi Coachbaglady,

The problem with your latest template (Looks great, by the way), is it does not have the [DESCRIPTION] tag at all. What the message means is you must have at least one [DESCRIPTION] tag but no more than one. I hope to have the error message that people recieve reflect our intended message more clearly!

And the answer to your question regarding images expiring within a certain time, the answer is no there is no expiration time.
