I had several listings removed from the UK site for "site interference". I requested more information as I had no idea what it could be, and I recieved the following response:

Regarding the violation of eBay's Site Interference policy, a number of
your listings included script designed to disable the right-most mouse
button function on viewing member's computers.

eBay's Site Interference policy states: "Interference or attempted
interference with eBay's web site and/or operations using any software
programme, routine or activity is a serious offence and is not
permitted.

Members using the eBay web site may only modify or add content in those
areas specifically designated for member use. All content must also
abide by all other eBay policies. Designated member areas are:

the description area of the View Item page.

the reply box on the eBay discussion, chat and help boards.

the members' About Me page.

the feedback comments area of the Feedback Forum.

the bid box.

the eBay email forwarding system text box (e.g. Ask Seller a Question,
Contact eBay Member).

In no case may a member block, obscure, overwrite or modify any
eBay-generated content or pages. All other site locations or components
of eBay pages are strictly for eBay use."

It seems they are refering to the image protection feature of Auctiva!

It only disables it on pictures. The only reason to right click on an image is to steal it. The majority of scripts out there disable right clicking anywhere in the listing.

If disabling right click isn't allowed there are probably several million listings that have that turned on. They should clearly state that isn't allowed.

This has never been reported to us as far as I know and we've been in millions of listings. What I think happened is that an over zealous eBay support person went crazy on your listings. Things like this happen from time to time on all sorts of different things which aren't against their rules. A new or unknowledgeable support person at eBay goes whacko and ends peoples listings for something not against the rules. Usually because their rules are so vague they can enforce just about anything they want by interpreting a rule the way they see fit.

We take a wait and see attitude and try and clarify with eBay that it is something they intend to enforce, or that the support person was mistaken. Unfortuantely we don't have an eBay UK contacts in that department. I'll see if we can go through our US Contacts and they can connect us with the appropriate UK contact.

I expect you are correct and I have asked for further clarification. The Support persons name is Wally Battle, if that helps.
