Hi,
I've decided to try to start using auctiva for insurance since I can use it for my international sales. I want to know though. For my non priority packages (that I can't go through paypal or USPS.com with) do I have to go to the post office to send these? Usually I just put on stamps to equal the postage (yes, $10-$16 in stamps). And I hand them to Cliff my mail guy. Or, I will sometimes go to the auto machine at the post office to print out my special stamp. Will the receipt for my special stamp count as proof of shipment?
If you wouldn't say it, should you type it?

That's a complicated question, as PayPal now seems to required proof of delivery for charge-back disputes and Buyer Protection. I use to consider P.O. receipts as proof, but I think PayPal is now always taking the buyer's side without a more definitive method showing delivery. Best (at minimum) method with USPS is Delivery Confirmation tracking. That's done automatically and with an electronic discount using either PayPal or USPS-direct click-n-ship. Also, PayPal requires Signature Confirmation over certain $ limit to even qualify for Buyer Protection.

IMO, I would start using the PayPal package labeling click-n-ship, and get the cheap .18 tracking at a minimum for all USPS packages. Since that pays the postage, tracking, and creates the label, you can do them all from home as a debit from PayPal. One nice feature is all your packages are already tracked by linkage from PayPal to USPS, i.e. you get links to "click" and check. I started by printing paper labels (cut and paste), and when I was comfortable with the method, switched to peal and stick labels.

I began using it last fall, and I'll never go back to stamps, P.O. machines, and USPS clerk lines. Personally, I think customers don't mind paying .18, when it verifies it's shipped, can be tracked at any time to see progress, and shows final delivery date and time (to the minute). That's because the USPS labels have a scan bar-code at the bottom that is scanned at all the sort centers and final delivery. The labels also make your operation look very professional and business-like.

At least my DSRs seem to agree with my methods:

4.9/4.9/4.9/4.8 and 205 @ 100% postive at last count

I do use PayPal consistantly. It is a great value to me to be able to print out everything at home. (btw, how did you switch to peel and stick, and how much does that end up costing you--b/c of the stickers).

Because I cannot print out non Priority international through paypal, the question becomes for Auctiva insurance's (U-Pic) proof, is a receipt enough?

I purchased some of the standard peel-and-stick labels from a ebay seller for a very reasonable price: 100 labels (2/page) for $8.50, and the seller shipped them to me PRIORITY MAIL. I just recently checked, and they're out or not selling them anymore. Frown They work excellent im my HP Laserjet.

I just did a Priority International that includes the Custom Form for ship to Canada a few months ago. Confused Did it through the PayPal click-n-ship to USPS. Worked great! Big Grin USPS tracked it through the CHI O'Hara airport to Canada, Customs, and final delivery. I was impressed, but it is a little pricey. Now, that isn't done with peal-n-stick. Customs ships are done with a special stick-on clear envelope FORM 2976-E and plain paper printout. Folks at my PO like to finish the paperwork at the counter and stick-on the 2976-E themselves. It is the one exception where a visit to the PO is needed, although I think that could also be eligible for pick-up under certain conditions.

Here's a neat trick. If you mostly do Media, Parcel, or First Class and do alot of shipping each day or on select day, pick ONE package for upgrade to Priority (if you have none), and you get the whole group eligible for FREE USPS pickup at your home. For the few dollars difference, it saves that long trip (for me) to the PO and the counter-drop and run routine. In my current situation, it saves about $2 (at today's ugly price) on gas, so there's almost a break even. I like rewarding my repeat buyers, so that trick has a secondary benefit of one very happy buyer. Especially, if they are Media waiting 10+ days in some cases. Oh...and I always use the FREE USPS Priority Mailer boxes from the small casette to the Flat Rate boxes. Since those are free, it saves too.

Hi mammasgoodstuff,

When I have contacted our insurance provider, U-Pic, with similar questions in the past, they have informed me that their insurance policies can cover items that were shipped with stamps, as well as those sent through the post office. However, it is possible that the answer to that question may vary based on the specific circumstances of the seller.

To receive a definitive answer to this question, I recommend contacting U-Pic directly using the contact information on the following page of their website: http://u-pic.com/Contact.aspx. They have phone support, live chat, and email support available.

If you have any additional questions or concerns pertaining to your Auctiva account, please feel free to contact our customer support team using the appropriate link on our help page: http://www.auctiva.com/free-auction-software-help/help.aspx
