I tried working it out, but I am just confused...before then I was just going to include the price of insurance in the shipping price and purchase insurance through Paypal. But then am I supposed to say "do not purchase insurance" from the list in Auctiva? If I choose to purchase insurance through Auctiva do I enable it...and does it automatically add the exact insurance to the shipping after it's over? Can I wait until the auction is over to do this...to add insurance to it? Help!
Hi phantombreeze,
If you don't enable Auctiva shipping insurance on your shipping insurance preferences page, we won't purchase any policies for you. You can still buy them elsewhere and add them to your shipping the way you said.
If you enable Auctiva shipping insurance, you have 2 options: use our auto-purchase rules, or alternately make the choice to buy or not buy a policy one at shipment at a time.
Using the auto-purchase rules, you can decide whether you want to auto insure all items or only if the value of the transaction (including S+H) exceeds an amount you specify. If you elect not to automatically purchase insurance, then you will need to buy the policy on the sales transaction page.
We don't automatically add the cost of the policy to your shipping & handling on your listing...you would need to do that yourself. eBay also says you can raise the price of the item enough to cover it, although there are pluses and minuses to that just as there are to charging shipping and handling vs offering free shipping.
I hope this helps answer your questions.
