Is it possible to delete/change a variation, after 1 has sold?

Can someone confirm this for me?

If I have 3 variations, Red, Green, Blue, and I sell out of Green, can I remove the Green variation? Or change it from reading "Green" to "Yellow".

I only want 3 variations, in this example, so I don't want to add yellow as a 4th. I simply am trying to determine whether or not we can change the name of a variation, or remove a variation, once one has sold?

I'm pretty sure I've gotten confirmation over on the ebay boards, that once a particular variation has a sale....it cannot be removed, or changed....other than to increase/decrease its available quantity.

If anyone knows otherwise, please post here.
