Hey Mike, that's pretty cool. DH's uncle (fathers half brother) was an olympic swimmer or maybe he was a diver. Pretty sure his name is Greg but wouldn't know the last name since it was a half brother. I'll have to check when he gets home tonight
quote:Near the end of the day my wife found a company from out of town who had someone available to come out. We can get a new coil for like $7k or a new unit for $11k. Needless to say we're going to get more quotes. I always thought these things only cost like $3-4k + installation, so maybe $4-6k. So I was quite shocked. It was a Lenox, I'm not sure if that brand is more expensive.
OMG! You must live in a mansion if you have to pay 7k to 11k to move your air...if your in a normal sized house...you should be able to get a new unit "installed" labor and all for less than 3k tops. You dont have a house in Malibu do you?...lmao that would explain alot.
I was also wondering if it was an exceptionally large house, for an AC unit to cost that much! Wow!
We have a whole-house fan in the attic and it works very well some days. Fortunately it gets cooler at night many nights here in Ohio. But it's usually really humid in the summers. I rarely use the fan because it sucks in all the moisture outside along with the cool air, then the dehumidifiers are working overtime the next day.
Jeff, I'd be hanging out at the library, nursing some tea and bagels at Panera or other place with free wifi, etc. Get out of the house and to cooler spots as much as you can while it's that hot.

Anyone hear from Jeff i nthe last 24 hours?
Either he passed out from the heat or the cost of a new unit killed him
Just trying to make you smile, they say laughter is the best medicine!

Boycotted Olympics and I discovered GIRLS... LOL
I was looking through the boxes of awards and I swam all over Fl. and I do remember swimming in Lakeland, now which pool... lol
Ok... enough blogging....
Ciao
Hey!
I went to high school with some Purvis'.
As my children and hubster say...DUH! You went to school or know everyone. <smile>
Paula Purvis. I was in the class of 75.
I can see why Bartow hotels were filled up...it's smaller than Lakeland. Back then we only had a handful of hotels/motels. A little bigger now but still a small town atmosphere.
Ahhhhhhhh, those were the days.
Thanks for the update! Wouldn't it be something, small world, if the Purvis I know is your family?
take care,
Donna
Miss Donna (showing respect)lol
I would bet you knew a relative "Purvis" Now as for Paula, I will check, cause Great Aunt Frances, had a litter of kids. Frances had a couple hundred acres of orange groves (like nobody had oranges trees in the Lakeland area in the 70's..lol)
I sure hope ole' Jeff is ok....
