Hi I live in Mass it's nearly 8 now and I still can't log in. Is any one else able to log on yet?
Not yet.
Very close. Please set your clocks back a few minutes so that my time estimate will be correct.
Just kidding about setting your clocks... Files are still being copied, just saw the "estimated time to complete copy" window a sec ago and we still have a few more minutes.
Sorry about this additional delay.

Kevin, I want to say thank you for posting all the updates and replys. You need to work on Sundays, it would keep alot of us that get frustrated and mad when problems happen and never hear a word from any one from Auctiva . We really like to hear what is going on and do not need any sugar coating. We just need to be informed, Thank you
13 minutes off. Looks like we're back.
Still nothing. Thanks for the updates though, it helps to at least know whats goin on
Need to turn off db maintenance flag... one sec.
Is this still a problem... I am getting the error message about maintenance.
Some servers back online... however, most users still hitting web servers that are offline.
so, do you think it will be up tonight... say within 30 min to an hour?
I still can't get on. How much longer will it be???
I don't believe this. The one day I set aside. I am trying to switch over to Auctiva, and this was my first round with it. I was hoping to list my auctions already, and they're hardly even started.
Yeah, we're for sure coming back online. Everything is fine with the network, servers, database, etc... just trying to bring web servers out of maintenance mode and back online. Which seems to not go as quickly as I thought it did. Guess I need to stick around on Thursday nights and do maintenance more often.
hmmmm....I'm in NY and it's now 8:20pm. I quietly read the WHOLE thread about the maintenance.
Now what???
It's SELLER's Season on FEEBay and I need to list more so they can charge me more fees !!! hahaha!
Seriously...any chance we will be back up and running anytime soon?
Thanks in advance to any and all who answer

nothing here either....
so true suzy there must be another board that addresses the fee issue I am new to this myself
If you see a server error page, it means the web server you're currently hitting is in the process of coming online.
Thank you very much Auctiva Kevin. I just hit the server error page, so hopefully all will be will in a minute.
Here's a server that is up:
Edit: Removing link to direct server. All servers should be fine. http://www.auctiva.com

Kevin,
I only ask these questions as food for thought. I don't expect a reply. One systems VP to another..
Can you explain why they are doing full copy of files after applying whatever patches they did? Why do this and keep everyone offline? couldn't they wait til like 2AM? Or just do the most critical files first? How can you do an effective job in QA in a real time environment like this?
If they ran out of space and needed to do a re-org then I understand. Or if there was significant file corruption and they needed to do a full repair. In either case the DBA and the QA folks need to get it together and be more proactive in managing the freespace and index sizes. Do the proper QA upfront and eliminate the problems.
FYI, whenever they told me 30 minutes to recover and get everyone back up, I get very skeptical. To me that means about 3 hours. So my suggestion is to ask ask ask what needs to get done in 30 minutes and is it realistic? Otherwise I would not put my name on a public post saying 30 minutes. I would at least pad the time some. If it comes in early hey, great.
As for going off and doing something else while waiting for the site to come back up. Good suggestion and that's what most of us did. BUT we have items that we want posted tonight. We need to get these items out there so whatever else we are doing isn't that important. I want to get my posts out there. Plus the work that we have been doing writing ads for the past 3 days and scheduling the campaign to launch tonight is in jepordy. So it's alot more impact that just 30 minutes or even 3 hours.
