Hey there... perhaps you guys can help me here. It seems that my spellcheck and special character buttons are not working. I click on them and the box pops up but then the entire picture freezes. It will not let me close the box and let me get back to my listing. I then have to leave the page entirely (which if I have not saved my listing is then gone - very frustrating) and reopen the listing.

Anyone know if there is an issue regarding those tools or is it just me?

Thanks a bunch for your input!

Hi LuckBeALadyTonight,

Thanks for contributing to our forum. There is actually a known conflict between the version of our description editor you are using and Internet Explorer 9.0 that causes the exact behavior you described here, so I assume that you are being impacted by that problem.

I'm not quite sure when that issue will be resolved at the moment but, in the mean time, you should be able to work around the problem by using the Firefox browser instead of Internet Explorer 9.0 or by setting your account to use the newer description editor we have available.

If you would like to try the Firefox browser and have not installed it already, you should be able to download it free of charge from the following site: http://www.mozilla.com

On the other hand, if you would prefer to adjust your account to use our newer description editor, you can accomplish that by mousing over the "My Account" tab within your account, selecting the "Acct Preferences" option under "Settings", checking the box next to "Use Design Editor v2.0" on the ensuing page, and then clicking the "Update Account Preferences" button.

I hope this helps. If you need any further assistance with your account, please feel free to contact our customer support team by mousing over the "Help" tab within your account and selecting the "File Support Case" option.

Mike. . any chance of getting the SELECT ALL and ERASER buttons back on the new designer page. I was told by support will have to switch back to old editor to get these features. However, hoping the NEW will help with the font changing issues. Obviously, when I run across old ones that are messed up using these to select and erase is method previously told to use...but switching back & forth seems kind of crazy.

can that be added back????
Hi lookandbuyme,

I'm not quite sure if it would be possible for us to add those buttons to the new description editor. The editors are programs we license from other developers and our ability to modify them is relatively limited, but I will pass along your comments in this regard to our developers as a suggestion in case it is something that we can do.

Another way that you can remove all the formatting code from your description text is to copy the text from the standard version of the editor, paste it into a simple text editor (like MS Notepad), delete all the existing HTML from the HTML version of the description editor, and then paste your text back into the standard version of the editor after copying it from Notepad.

I realize that is more involved than selecting all the text within the standard version of the editor and clicking a button, but I figured I would mention it in case you were not aware of that option.

Also, even though there is no "Select all" button on the new version of the description editor, you should still be able to select all the text there pretty easily by placing your cursor within the description editor, then holding the CTRL key on your keyboard and pressing "A".

Thanks for the feedback!

-Mike
