Hi all,
My problem is this: When using the second uploader option, this keeps happening to me:
(I am on dialup)
1. I allow the applet to load and start, giving it some time, (if I click on ADD to quickly, sometimes everything freezes and other times I have to click on ADD again)
WHY does this happen?
2. I then choose the file of pics I want to upload from the browse window
The pic names all appear in the Auctiva window now.
I click UPLOAD
I get the UPLOAD status box. Everything fills in immediately and says 100% complete, but at the top it says WAITING FOR RESPONSE

At this point, am I suppose to wait for something else to happen?

Sometimes, when I've done this, I get a confirmation that all the pics have uploaded, sometimes nothing happens and it just hangs in WAITING for response.

Also, why can't I select any other Auctiva section while on the upload page? It always comes back CANNOT FIND PAGE.
Then,
I have to close out of Auctiva completely, wait a bit, and open Auctiva again.

Conclusion,
These seem like some type of glitch to me.
I know that when I used to use the eBay listing form, when selecting the category or changing the category, If I clicked too fast, the whole thing would freeze and go into the EXPLORER NOT RESPONDING message at the top of the page!

Please let me know what I am doing wrong and should be doing, am I just clicking on everything too quickly??

TIA

When you have clicked upload and it says waiting for server response what is actually happening is your photos are still loading and once they are complete auctiva sends a signal lettng you know they are actually done.
I am on cable and depending on the size of my photos and how many it can take quite some time to upload for me.
I choose to only upload a few photos at a time for this reason.
Since your on dial up if your photos are of good quality in size and pixel count it can take you an eternity to upoload them.
Some image hoasting servers will not allow dial up to load high quality images tying up their bandwidth for too long with slow dial up.
I know ebay will not allow this but do not know about auctiva.
What will happen is the program will sometimes seem to freeze because the server is rejecting the upload due to the low dial up and large images.
Try uploading only two photos at something like 10X15 photos at 50 dpi.
You will need to use a photo program such as corel photo or adobe photoshop.
HI watchinu,
I am GLAD you are watching me! and answering Smile

When you say 10x15, what does that mean?

I use Microsoft photo editor, to crop, etc. before I upload. I do go in and change the pixel size from 300 to 96. I don't know what dpi.

Here's another ? - Auctiva says that they auto resize our pics before putting in an auction - should I be doing that before I upload? My pics come off the camera at 900x1200. I don't change that before I upload.

How would you like to take a look at one of my auctions and see how long it takes it to load for you? Pretty please?

Hi, I checked your auction, I'm on cable and it loads beautifully. Very nice listing.
I'm not sure either what watchinu means by "dpi" (dots per inch). Usually you go by pixels, like your photos come out at 900x1200 pixels.
Auctiva only resizes the pictures that are actually on your listing, but if someone clicks on them, it loads the original sized picture (bigger) so it's more detailed.

Find out what the norm is for auctiva and yes it would be advisable to use the size that they would adjust befor listing.
Did you figure out that your photos were still loading when it says waiting for response from server?
Once again try loading only a few at a time and it will go faster and will be sure they loaded.

I checked your listings and they are very nice and load quite fast for me to as I am on cable.
Keep up the nice work!
Thank you to both Kbalona and watchinu for your feedback!
To kbalona, yes, I did figure out that the pics are actually loading while it says waiting for response...I find that if I walk away and come back, (and keep my hands off!) that there will be an uploaded confirmation message, yea!

To clarify, are you saying that I should resize my photos from the 900x1200 to 300x400 BEFORE uploading? Does that make a difference in how quickly they upload?

Don't get me wrong, if the system doesn't freeze on me, the pics actually load quite fast, say 20 pics in less than 10 minutes. Of course that is if I walk away, if I sit and wait on them, it takes forever, LOL!!!
