the new editor has made Auctiva un-usable for me. All my descriptions in saved ads have disappeared. There are hundreds of them, and all that I checked (not all of them of course) are GONE.

I've been with Auctiva for about 3 months...there seems to always be something like this happening...plus, the perpetual reloading of images since they don't load right the first time...I love the concepts you guys have...buy I need reliability......
Just tried out the new editor again. Working smooth for me except the window is too small and you have to scroll right to read all of your text when using medium fonts. Otherwise, all seems well right now.

Thanks for working on the problems, been doing this for 5 years and there isn't ANY other listing service that doesn't have technical problems launching new products. I've tried several and gave up expecting 100% flawless operation 100% of the time, it just doesn't happen in the real world.
Tried the editor again this morning and it still keeps placeing empty spaces between sections of the text. I can change it in the editor but when you veiw the preveiw there still there and if you save them and reopen the add there back in the editor again. Any advise? I already cleared my cache and even tried from my other computer.I have purged all the adds from my store with the intention of rebiulding them here and have several hundreds to do so i really need this problem fixed. Thanks
I was using the editor last night and got thru about a dozen listing. Then it starting adding code in for no reason.

I never changed anything. I use a simple template that I just delete info and change to the new measurements.

But it was adding extra < strong > and < li >. It would be fine until you did a preview or uploaded to eBay. Then it would add the extra stuff.

Not sure if it's working today, but I had to go and edit them on eBay before giving up.
Yup, it's still doing it.

My description is simple, it's only about 10 lines of text.

It looks like there is something wrong with the end tags or something because it's repeating each line over again.

I just cleared by cache. Maybe that will help, but I've got 100 pieces that I was going to list today and if this isn't fixed, then I'll have to fire up Turbo lister.

Oh, it's also doing it when I load up a saved ad that had no problems. When I hit preview, it adds all the extra junk it and ruins what was perfectly good.

I'm going to replace all the <strong>s with <b>s and see if that helps. I hate <strong> anyways...

---------------

Okay, update. I cleared cache, rebooted and it was still doing it.

I switched out all the <strong> tags, made sure all the code was aligned and closed and it's working fine.

However, I do want to say that I had to go in and manually code everything, as the code that was in there was from the main editor, not code that I put in.

So, it looks like the WYSIWYG editor is messing things up.

If I went in a coded it directly and made sure all the tags were aligned properly (which the editor doesn't do...) it is now working fine.

Hi,

I am a little confused here. Are we all talking and commenting on the Design Editor (where you place your HTML for creating templates ?

Or the Description Editor where you write your description and attach your pictures and template before posting to ebay ?

I can see that both editors have been upgraded. But which editor do you want comments on ?

The description editor box is to small, the text does not wrap to the next line correctly, you now have to scroll over to view all of your description text.

I know the old design editor WYSIWYG had problems, and would often insert extra html. Can you clarify which editor you wish us to comment on.

Thanks
Hi There!
Few problems here I hope someone can help..
I have tried listing couple new items that I did today and it keeps telling me I have
"API Error

Either your Description, Location, or Checkout Instructions appear to have Java script in it according to eBay. eBay is very strict about anything that looks like it may be Java script. Try checking your description for parenthesis and try posting without them if they do exist.
"
There is no Java script in listing... nor is there " ) or any other things that should cause it..
So what now?? I have MANY times with NO luck.
Please help...

Hi,
There is an issue with pasting content from a Word document. It inserts extra spaces like you mentioned. There is a button on the editor for "Paste From Word", which will paste without the extra spaces.

Please try that.

We changed the editor everywhere it was used on the site. Go ahead and comment on any place it isn't working like it should. This would include the 1-page lister, the template creator, the detail profile page, and the full-page design editor.
Please, Please bring back the old description editor. I have tried most of today & haven't successfully created a listing yet. Every time I get close to getting a description entered, it either disappears on its own or I get a message asking if I want to save, then no matter whether I click save or cancel it is all gone again.
I normally use AOL's browser but today I have tried Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox & Opera. Each browser seems to have its own unique problems with this new editor but the bottom line is it doesn't work correctly with any of them. I thought I was
finished with Turbo Lister forever but it is going to begin to look better if this continues!

Hi Kevin,

I am talking about the description editor, where you attach your pictures and post. I do not use the design template editor. It is the description editor that is not wrapping the words correctly to the next line.

Although, I do have my PC screen set at 800 x 600, so I don't know if this makes any difference, it didn't before you made the changes. It worked fine before the changes.

Carol.
Can we have the option to use the old editor ?

I think this new editor needs to go back to beta test mode again. I thought after last weekend you would have made sure that it was working ok before launching it again live ??

I can't understand why you would put it live again, then ask everyone to test it ? and let you know the problems. Surely this is what the beta test site is for, not the live site. It really does not make sense.
We tested it internally, then on our beta site with some user input, and finally it went live.

You must understand that web technology, especially browsers, are all a bunch of interpretations and hacks built upon old buggy code and more hacks. Browsers do crazy weird things on some people's machines, while on others they work just fine.

From what we can tell the new editor is working for about 95%+ of the user base we have. That isn't bad, considering the old browser probably worked for 90%+ and had its own little quirks.

The reason we ask people on these forums for their input isn't so the editor can be tested for the first time. It is so we can address the issues that come up for a minority of users. Issues that we can't reproduce internally and that need specific, sometimes very creative, workarounds.
Also we can't test for every software configuration out there.

There are browser types (IE, Firefox, Netscape, Safari, etc...), then specific versions of each type, then add-ons like ZoneAlarm, virus scanners, popup blockers, then seemingly non-related apps that mess with your web setup, then individual user preferences you set in your browser and your 3rd party tools.... the list goes on.

We try to make things as generic as we can so those differences in your setup won't break stuff, but we can only do so much.

So we'll keep fixing issues that get reported. Don't be shy, tell us what isn't working for you and help us to help you. But expecting 100% compatability from a website is a pipe-dream. No site out there can do it.
"the new editor has made Auctiva un-usable for me. All my descriptions in saved ads have disappeared. There are hundreds of them, and all that I checked (not all of them of course) are GONE."

"They aren't actually gone. They still exist in the database but they aren't being displayed to you. Please, anybody having this issue do not save over your ad. The descriptions STILL EXIST, but it is a display issue.

If you are having this problem, can you:
1) Clear your cache
2) Close all browser windows
3) Go to http://www.auctiva.com and look at your saved listings"

MINE ARE disappearing & staying GONE. Have re-typed the same little auction 3 times. They only show up as a blanl untitled auction.

What browser are you using?

If the description is messed up before you save, then yes it will be gone. If you actually saved listings earlier but now they look messed up, just don't re-save them until we can address your issue.
None of my descriptions are showing up when I try to edit a saved listing. There is just a big empty area where the editor box used to be. I can, however, see the listings when I preview them from the 'saved listings' page.

I get the same thing when I try to create a new listing. I am unable to because there is no description editor. My browser (IE 5 version 6.0.2800.1106) keeps giving me an error message that the page is "done, but with errors".

Thank you for your suggestions.

I agree, it is not a longterm solution. It is however a workaround until we can work all of the bugs out of the new editor. I do appologize for the problems you are having and we will continue working on the editor until it works well enough for all of you to use it.
