In all my time listing I have always had good luck with using keywords to drive people to my listings. I recently listed Super Strength Blue-Emu and had one auction close with 27 hits that did nor sell and have 4 more active that have 11, 5, 3, and 2 hits with no bids. I know this item sells and I have a very reasonable starting price listed. Could a few people look and maybe offer some suggestions of how to change my item description to maybe drive hits/sales. 2 Super Strength BLUE-EMU Aloe MSM Glucosamine NWOB
2 Super Strength BLUE-EMU Aloe MSM Glucosamine 8 OZ
Thanks Steve

Hi Taz - I like your product description, but see two potential problems with your listings. I felt your photos do not display your product very well, and could be much improved with better lighting, backround, cropping, and product arrangement. Also it is a little ambiguous to list a lot of 2, and then show a box of six.

Secondly, I understand the desire to insulate yourself from bad transactions, but your numerous rules and warnings about restricting certain bidders, non-paying bidders, negative feedback, no personal checks, etc are worded and presented in such a manner as to create a rather negative vibe. Cumulatively, they give a harsh "don't mess with me" impression that could turn off potential buyers. A more buyer-friendly atmosphere could turn more lookers into buyers.

Hope some of this helps, because you have a good product, good description, nice template - it should sell. Smile

I see some minor things here and there that could improve your listing...
1st, I agree with ninth_wave, your driving customers away with the overall tone of your rules, now I know we've all been burned, but unless your item is real expensive, I'd ditch all the rules and take your chance. most people with a neg or two won't read that anyway, and you can't block them after they win in the last couple minutes, and if they're going to the trouble anyway, they'll most likely pay... the rest is up to you...
#1) Shipping would make me instantly click back! If it's light enough for 1st class, it shouldn't be any more than $2.99-$3.99! ... and that's with handling! Your charging $7.99!!!
Your excellent feedback and stars with exception of shipping and handling star should tell you your customers aren't happy and your chargeing to much!

#2) Don't push the insurance! It makes people think you can't ship it to them packed properly, and it's a bad deal for this type of item, so just offer it as an option! Leave it up to there decision... Honestly, if (2) 4ounce plastic jars showed up broke to my customer, then I'd probably take the loss and refund or resend new ones!

#3) When specifying quantity, use the parenthesis: (2) or the hyphen: 2- , it's a little confusing the way the title reads, and use all caps for the actual name, as on label, so people can immediately see what your selling.
EXAMPLE:
Your title: 2 Super Strength BLUE-EMU Aloe MSM Glucosamine 8 OZ
My example: (2) Jars SUPER STRENGTH BLUE-EMU 4oz w/Glucosamine NEW

#4) As mentioned, if your selling (2), show two in the picture! Your setting yourself up for trouble, and not as described reports!

#5) Your listing info is nice, but you may want to avoid to many paragraphs centered, there a little hard on the eye... instead, try some of the other tools to make them easily readable.

#6) As mentioned crop, and avoid dark backgrounds. Some of the best photos I ever took were not in my lighting tent, but outside in the morning or afternoon sitting on a towel, cloth, cement, table... etc. Natural light can't be beat, and makes your product more appealing!

#7) Threatening negative feedback for non paying bidders is not neccesary, it's already a given, but not always practical, since you'll get one right back!

You state: "I try to ship within 2 days of receiving payment however occasionally I may require up to 5 days."???

Why so long for shipping? You could have these pre-packaged and ready to slap the label on, and in todays seller star ratings, very risky!

#8) Also, regarding your policy's...You could just lose all your requirements if you required Paypal on all auctions. That will eliminate most all potential problems your concerned about, but keep in mind, most buyers on eBay are legitimate and will pay at end, and 99% of my customers pay with paypal anyways! I get a few money orders, a few cashiers checks that I state I don't accept, but oh well, just deposit them and wait longer for clearing. If someone sends me a check that has the same name and address as the buyer, I think that's next to cash! Just wait till clear!

I don't mean to be critical, but you asked, and I didn't have the time to cover the good parts of your listings... keep in mind, ANY Auctiva listing is quantum leaps above an average eBay listing in looks design and feel, so your still doing most things right. One last thing, make your templates all look similar, such as: About Us, Shipping, Etc... It's a little hard to read with all the different fonts, colors, and sizes.
I'll shut up noW... Good Luck!

Steve,
I would like to tell you something that I just found out. According to Ebay, (just chatted with them) you cannot search the 'description' of an auction listed using Auctiva. I have just discovered this myself merely by accident. I am certainly going to look into it further. I've heard it a million times...it's all about keywords. Well, keywords don't work if you use Auctiva. I did the 'Live Chat' thing on Ebay and talked with Venus S. This person indicated this is due to an HTML issue with Auctiva. I know NOTHING about HTML. His/Her suggestion was to list using EBAY. Of course!
