Here's my Bad Dog! <wink>The pics of your dozer are zactly how they stand and that's zactly how they sleep all scrunched up and their neck is usually lolling about in a weird position. Find pics of Barney & Bo. I call him Barn-dawg cause that's where he's going one day..the barn! <smile> He's our second bassett and we rescued him from the Bassett Hound Rescue of FL. We lost Bo after 9 plus years in March of last year to cancer and it was and still is very emotional for me. I still tear up at the thought of him. Bassett's have their own mindset and time frame for everything and it's never the same as what we want them to have!<BR>Thanks for the pics. And the visual of a basssett with a lab making "babies" is one that I can't quite grab a hold of. <smile>Enjoy! Donna

OMG What a doll. That's so cool to know that Bassett's are like that. Do you know of any other health problems that they have? We have noticed that Dozer's back hips if you put your hand on his back(by his tail) that you can feel them pop. I'm worried that on down the road he is going to have problems. Confused I am so sorry about your loss of Bo. You are so right about their own mindsets. In the morning especially it's a game of I'm going to get every sock every mitten or anything I can until you can't take it anymore. It seems he's always looking for something to take off with. It drives me MAD! He's behind me right now snoring unusally loud. Thanks for the pics I can't wait to show my daughter who is 8, she'll love them.

Oh you have to be careful of their hips...honest! I have some info and if you'll email me at Suthrnjewl@Suthrnjewl.com I'll send it to you. I watched a show on Animal Planet where the backside of the bassett eventually was displaced due to old age and they made the dog a little trailer to sit in with wheels and he basically got around quite well. Better than me! <smile> But as long as your on top of it and know what to watch for..it'll be fine. Plus I don't know what the mixture of bassett and lab could do as far as hip problems. Bassett's also have a higher than norm level of seizures. Bo did. We would talk him through them and hold him while he had them. It would break our heart..he never remembered what happened but we did learn how to cope with them. Please visit Bo's website http://www.geocities.com/suthrnjewl/bo.html

People think our bassett hounds aren't smart..and actually they aren't that high on the intelligence level (yours should be higher though with the lab mix) but Bo knew two tricks..and would do them...when he wanted to. <smile> Bassett's do what they want, when they want to and know just how to get to their owners. And dangit all, if I don't end up smiling half the time when it's mischief that he knows he's not to do.

You're daughter will love the website Daily Drool. SO CUTE! It's on the bottom of Bo's website..

Ho Ho Ho,
Donna
