After talking with friends who regularly buy clothing offered on EBAY, I find that they ONLY will purchase things that have a return policy.

I have been putting clothing, etc. on EBAY and am wondering if this is why my clothing sales are not "booming". I measure everything, length of skirt, width across bust, sleeve length, etc. I try to offer them at fair prices but do add in my handling fee of $3.00...

I really don't want to get into the business of accepting clothing returns that the buyer MAY have worn or damaged in some way. (thinking of those folks who buy an expensive dress, wear it to a party and return it to the store saying "this does not fit")

I'd appreciate examples of "refund policies" and if you have problems with refunds.

Thanks for your help and input.

I offer a full refund (minus fees) and nobody's taken me up on it in six months. Then again, my sales are mostly in the collectibles area and I can see your concern with clothing.

Still and all, I think people just feel more comfortable with that refund option. I know I would if I was buying any clothing other than a t-shirt.

Also, people are afraid they'll get the item and it won't be as it was described. They don't know that you're a trustworthy seller until they've actually bought from you and everything went well...
As a buyer, the thing that turns me off right away is stuff like:

AS IS!!!!!!!!! NO RETURNS!!!!!!!!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!

When I see that, I'm outta there.

If you are concerned about abuse of a return policy, you might want to just start by taking that "ALL SALES FINAL" part out of all capital letters.

Here is my return policy, and I've never had anything returned yet.

Item must be returned within: 7 Days
Refund will be given as: Merchandise Credit
Return Policy Details: Items must be new and packaging must be undamaged. Customer pays cost of returning items. Please contact us prior to returning item.
Yeah, that looks good. I sell software, hardware, accessories, and I've never had anything returned.
I've had items damaged, but nothing else.
I have explicit return policies such as:

Buyer must return item within 7 days of the end of auction. We will replace your item unless it is no longer available in which case we will pay a full refund. Returns/Refunds are at the sole discretion of the seller, and will be examined prior to issuance of a replacement or refund.

As I said, what you have now is good. Me personally, I never buy from a seller offering "As-is" or "No returns accepted"
