OK. You're still the best BUT it didn't work. In fact I tried to install it several times, I went into Control Panel, uninstalled all adobe stuff and then went back and changed activeX settings like the website said. successfully installed New Adobe Reader 9.0/Acrobat and flash player...rebooted, checked the listings on eBay and still same Get Flash 6 Install Now. When I "AGREE AND INSTALL NOW" I have to 'allow activeX" which I do, then it says the installation is complete...but I can't find it anywhere on my computer and scrolling gallery doesn't show up.
Hi,

I assume you're running Windows XP or Vista and IE7. If you are running IE8 (just released), try using the Site Compatibility option on the toolbar, so it will operate in IE7 mode.

The current release of Flash Player is 10.0.22.87. Go back to control panel and check Add/Remove Programs for "Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX" is there. If you click on the entry, you'll get an expanded view that has a "Click here for support information". That should show Version 10.0.22.87 to confirm it's installed and current.

Windows XP IE7 I have tried several ways to get to the Flash Player download then agreeing and downloading each time. I did the click from Auctiva, I typed in http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
I get the 'bleep' and allow active X for this site...get a little square to install, hit the install and in a few seconds I see a message on the adobe page that 10.0.22.87 was installed. But darned if I can find it in control panel. It is not there. So anyway, I've about had it for the day. BUT the good news is I'm selling quite a bit today, and you told me that it shows up fine for you/other lookers/buyers, so I guess that's what really matters. But I welcome and appreciate your help.
Hi Pattycyn,

Is this a new computer and/or were any changes recently made such that that the Flashplayer stopped working? I'm wondering if there is a change or something is blocking the install.

Just to double-check, you are going to Control Panel and clicking on the Add / Remove Programs icon, and the Adobe Flasher Player 10 ActiveX isn't showing (per prior post)?

Good morning. this is not a new computer. everything has been working just fine. I DO remember doing an AVG security scan - no problems. I DO remember getting a popup upon booting up the other morning for Microsoft Authention (sp?). I clicked ok and that was that. HOPE that wasn't some ploy for that confick worm. So this morning, I tried again. Checked my ebay listings..no scrolling gallery. went into Control Panel clicked on Add/Remove Programs icon. NO Adobe Flash Player
So I had this bright idea to try to use Firefox to download and install it. It now shows up on my Control Panel Red icon Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin. Rebooted computer, went to eBay and scrolling gallery STILL not working. BUT I have it on the computer. It is showing up on my desktop. In previous post you mentioned compatibility. my selections are Win 98/Me
Win NT4.0 or Windows 2000. So I never know which one to choose. I am Windows XP Professional ver 5.1 service pack 3 physical memory available to windows 522,240KB. Now I'm talking like I know what I'm talkin' about...which I dont. Hope to hear from you.
YEP.. signing on with Firefos, which I don't normally use, and Scrolling Gallery works! But ya know what. I have the icon on my desktop it is a red folder with a white F...and the words under are "install_flash_player.exe" I don't know. This is why you are the programer and I'm the puppet...but I don't mind!
What next? I saw something about Mydocs/Opera or something, but can't find where I saw that...Do you have SKYPE cause you could call me...unless you prefer to do it this way. I don't mind. I just appreciate the help.
RE Microsoft Authentication. I think I recall it was at bootup and way behind my gmail signin that always pops up when I first turn on my computer...I think that is the Gmail notification signon. It always has my name and password in dots...and I just hit the enter or OK and it goes away. Then behind that was the Microsoft Authentication. That now worries me.
Hi,

Hmmmm....it's been a little while since I last did the flash install, but you might need to double-click that desktop icon to get the install to run. That would explain it not installing for ActiveX. That's not exactly how it's suppose to go, according to instructions (look here):

http://www.adobe.com/products/...ctinfo/instructions/

Glad the Firefox plugin is working. That's at least peace-of-mind on your Store Window working OK. Smile

I am puzzled over what started the problem. Something has changed or was corrupted. If I was sure it was a virus problem, I would recommend using the XP System Restore feature to backup to a point prior to the problem. If it's ONLY the Flashplayer, it might just be an odd file got corrupted.

Hey, here's some good news I think. OK. I have a laptop upstairs in "my eBay" room. The scrolling gallery is working when I sign on with IE on all my listings. So that means, I think, that there is just something wrong with the install on the computer downstairs.

This laptop was my sons. He loaded it this past summer with ALL my programs from the computer downstairs (desktop dell) so this Flashplayer must have been the one that was originally on my downstairs computer.

I also did a google search on the MicroAuth thing and gosh, I guess a few years ago this was a way for hackers to put a worm or whatever on peoples computers.

I have the 'expensive paidfor" version of AVG Intenet Security. I guess I should run that on the downstairs computer huh. It takes about 2 1/2 hours...so I guess i could do it now while I'm packing my sales (yeah!) and getting them ready for shipment.
Hi,

If it turns out to be a virus and can't be cleaned/removed easily or has done some damage that's not easily fixed, I'd run a System Restore for a date prior to the date you think the virus infection occurred.

You'll find the System Restore on the following path:

Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore

You'll see a Calendar with the bold dates being restore capable dates. Restore doesn't wipe data files, mail, etc., it just restores the system and program files back to how they looked at that point in time.

Complete AVG Computer scan showed nothing unusual so I did a restore back two weeks and VOILA....Scrolling Gallery shows up. So who knows what happened, except ya know, as I was deciding on the date to choose, I remembered I updated my SKYPE to a newer version, which I don't even like...so maybe that was it because it always acted weird or just different that the other one. I use it alot because my 3 grandchildren live in Romania and I have to see them often cause I get so lonesome. So maybe that was it and that's why I choose to set it back to before I updated it late March. Thanks for your help...I'm sure I'll be back..so don't go anywhere. I know you have helped countless others too. God Bless!
