A bit new to Auctiva.
I have a similar item I want to list using the info on a saved item. But when I load the saved info, the editor for the text shows the WHOLE auction preview with pictures and all, instead of the text. I want to add DIFFERENT pictures but the rest of the auction will be the same (apart from a few text changes). How to I remove the pictures, make the editor back to a text editor, and add new pictures. When it shows what I mention in the editor portion of the listing page - with pix and all, it shows nothing in the picture thumbnails so I cant remove the pics it shows are still in the auction to replace them.

please help. I came here cause Ebay kept changing so much it felt like I was havign to reinvent the wheel each time I listed, and trying to figure out some of the quirks here - ESP regarding picture loading is just taking WAY too much time.

Energy,
I don't know why your picturs wouldn't be showing in the thumbnails but showing in the auction if I'm understanding you correctly.

I'm assuming your trying to edit a saved listing that was listed through Auctiva. Right?

Go to Saved Listings, Click on the listing you wish to edit. Change title and other text you wish to revise.

Go to Image Selector(where your thumbnails are) and if there are pictures there, underneath each one it should say edit or remove. Click remove on each thumbnail and replace. (Make sure your pictures have been uploaded to Auctiva).

If the thumbnail picture is no longer there, trying clicking on the little box anyway and see if it will take you to where you can upload or if you've already uploaded them to Auctiva you should be able to see them & choose.

Perhaps you've already removed them or something ? I don't understand why they wouldn't be there.

After you have revised your listing don't forget to click SAVE (or post) at the bottom. I usually click save first and then go back & look at the listing before posting to eBay to make sure I have everything revised the way I want it before posting it.

Hope that makes sense and if I'm misunderstanding what's happening in your case let me know. Also, you could have Auctiva take a look at those thumbnails & see if it's a glitch or what.
Good luck.
yeah. Its wierd. Basically, I went to Saved listings. Picked which one I wanted to edit. In the "item description", I just see the whole listing with pictures and all. I CAN edit the text that way, but its the whole listing with template in that window - and there are no pictures in the thumbnails. I added new pictures in the thumnails (3) and then hit preview. Preview shows me the SAME listing with all those orig pictures, except the one at the top of the listing is one of the new ones I added, but the template part of the listing only has my old pictures. It seems under Item Description, shouldnt I get the text editor like I was doing a new auction? It has the whole template backing and pictures in that window.

I have sent a question to Auctiva.

Very frustrated. It just takes way too much time making auctions anymore. I cant figure out Auctiva in some respects.
Same thing happens when I go to edit an auction listed on Ebay after building it here. The Ebay edit just shows the WHOLE template and pictures and everythign in the "item description". So dont knwo how I change pictures and stuff after its listed either.

(sigh - just trying to sell my stuff off. After years of being on ebay, and about 3 months here - all the changes that have happened.....theres just nothing fun about it anymore. Building auctions and keeping up with the endless changes has become like another full time job - and I already have one of those......
ugh. Ebay and Auctiva are slowly killing me.

In lieu of an answer to my above problem, I just decided to RECREATE the whole auction again - only to have the picture loader completely crash Explorer and I lost all the work I did.
I have an extremely powerful computer and newest explorer and this is the 3rd time the picture loader has crashed both Explorer and Firefox today.

slowly killing me I tell ya.
Yes, it seems the more each site upgrades, the more time it takes to list and figure out what they've done now.

When you are trying to edit a listing in eBay, some things such as text are quite simple but if you're adding or deleting pictures I find the easiest way is to do it through Auctiva.

You make all the changes through your saved listing and Save. Then you have to go back and click on the icon for HTML. You click on 'select all' and right click to copy. Then have to go back to eBay, go to your listing and go to item description & click on the HTML tab. Delete all that is there and then paste the html you just copied in Auctiva. This new html includes all your revisions and changes. I know it sounds more difficult than it is.

If you need specifics I can do some screen shots so just let me know.

Again, as to whats up with those thumbnails, I don't get that at all. I hope when you recieve a response from support, you'll come back & let me know what the glitch was.

It used to be so much fun...now it seems like it's hard to sit down and focus knowing the obstacles. Don't give up!
Very kind of you to take the time to help me. I guess I could help with some screen shots too. heres what I see when I open up a saved listing.

ok now last week when I chose a new Auctiva plan, I was fiddling about with the manage images function. It seems the images are still there but maybe I moved them or something, maybe thats the thumbnail issue? But as you see in the screen capture, nothing in the thumbnails, and the item description just has my auction with pictures and backround template and if I put images in the thumbnails, they only replace the very top image and not the ones that appear with the backround template. Hope this makes sense.
But creating a new auction like this (though Im creating "similar" listing, how do I get the item description to just be the text editor as if Im creating a new listing?

again - thanks for your help.
*I am now having internet problems! Just got off the phone with Verizon..I didn't mean to post that screen shot so large & trying to reduce it. But...due to problems..

It looks like this is your new listing(and not created from a similar listing as I don't see edit or remove under the thumbnails.

Anyway, you should be in the text mode..Look right under where it says 'item description', it says switch to html so that means you should be able to just type test. You should already be in the right place.
Do you not have a place to type regular text?

Weird things going on tonight with computers!

Added: Let me go look at one of my saved listings. Something doesn't look right here.
ok. I just created a couple of new listings today (from scratch) one sold already.
Now I want to use that info to create a similar listing, where I will change the pictures and perhaps SOME text.

So I go to LISTINGS.
Then click on "create a similar listing"
I select these listings (I have 2 that are somewhat similar - and those were auctions that ended a week or so ago).
I get this (note the WHOLE formatted auction is in the item description/nothing in the image thumbnails)

If I hit "html" on that page under "item description"
I get this:

All this has gone on for days mind you....

BUT, I just today, happened to create a listing from scratch, and it sold in an hour. So I tried to do a "create similar" listing for THAT one, and it seems to be fine. Here it is after hitting "create similar":

so I dont know WHAT the problem is but perhaps Its now better??
very strange.

Well I really appreciate your help.

Hopefully whatever ruined those "templates" or whatever they are, is fixed now.
Well, you're so welcome. I wasn't any help, but was just so puzzled when I read your dilema. I still do not understand why that template was showing up.

This last screen print you posted is how it should be with the box for text. You shouldn't even have to fool with the html at all in these scenarios.

I'll be curious to see if your luck continues and I do hope it does. I have just never had that happen. I'll keep watching to see if I see you jumping up & down here on the forums! LOL

Take care

Well Auctiva responded and said this:

"You may have been using the 'Create a Similar Listing' tool with an 'Imported Listing'.

Imported listings contain the description and images within the 'Item Description' field and as such are not really the ideal choice to base future listings on."

So I have no idea how I made an "imported listing", but perhaps its possible.

So alls well for now. Ive stopped jumping up and down Wink
Was going to PM you and thank you but there seems to be no PM function on this forum. Can I reach you through your link in your post?

take care.
Hi energy...

Imported listing, huh? Well, I don't know how you would have done that either.

My ebay id is jordan-benton. You can always go to one of my items and contact me through 'ask seller a question'.

Right now, my link above is for my Auctiva Commerce Store which is disabled at the moment while I decide if I should go or if I should stay! LOL It is time consuming and not sure I have the time considering the time I spend on ebay. But, I'll see. I like the stores but like anything, it takes time to build so initially you don't get the traffic that ebay still gets (in spite of all the issues).

I don't know if you click on the link (haven't tried it) if it will allow you to go to my Contact Us page or not. I'll try it.

Edited to add: Acutally, it looks like if you click on www.VintageBoardwalk.com it will let you click on the contact us page to send an email. Didn't know that it would still work.
