I used SD for years and recently switched to Auctiva because of the price increase at SD.
I love AUctiva now that the server change is complete. I've never had the problems posting or with pics that some useres say they have so I don't know about their issues. It has options that just aren't and won't be available from SD.
SD has been sold to Inkfrog now anyway, so SD is will be totally useless after the switch and you'll still have to pay for Inkfrog.
Yes, I have used SD myself for a few years. You can't compare apples with oranges but I'm happy with the service offered here at Auctiva.

It wasn't easy for me to make the move, I don't like change and I don't like learning new things but I'm glad I did this. I moved two selling ID's from SD to Auctiva and both with stores. It was alot of work but worth the effort Big Grin
I'm still a paying member over at SD (I prepaid for a year back last june or so), so will be there until the changeover to inkfrog.

As for comparision - they're both good tools. SD has some templates that are nice and very fast loading (even faster with a little bit of tweeking), and their tools are very simple and straight-forward. However, they havent kept up with the changes over at ebay and as a result you have to go to ebay and edit the listing after you launch it, if you want to use the new s/h info, new return policy bit, and last i knew there were a few probs with item specifics - but they might have been fixed (not sure).

SD's gallery and Auctiva's store window are both nice features.

In my opinion, Auctiva's checkout redirect is super nice to have! (even though some have had problems with it) And I really like how I can set up profiles for different parts of a listing and then a master profile based upon those sub-profiles, and then load all of that plus template into the lister! All I have to do is load it, add pic, modify description, set price, and launch. Very simple Smile

I will stay at SD at least long enough to give the new inkfrog version a try in June, but I will also continue to use Auctiva.

Even if I stay at sd/inkfrog I will most likely also be here using auctiva.
I used SD for 2 plus years.

Last spring I decided to find a service that had customer service and upgrades. Both of which Sparedollar is/was sorely lacking.

Auctiva has both and is very user friendly.

During my searches, I found that other third party services could keep up with the changes to categories and more that SD stated they could not.

Uh...it's simple coding. I also found that when error codes happened with SD we were told it couldn't be fixed..yet other third parties were keeping up. Why? I would ask myself were we being spoon fed these lines of bunk. (And to me eBay can change what they want, it's their own venue and the third parties responsibility to keep up)

I was in the last throes of moving all of my items out when I awoke one morning to find that SD had gone poof due to a lack of paying a bill. I was thankful at that point that I was almost done with moving on. I've also been told by members that are with the service still that there were times that Rackspace (the servers) had to be called by members to reboot the Sparedollar system when it wasn't working.

Money was not the reason for leaving. As I've stated..I would pay for this service and gladly. It was plain ole business sense that spurred me to move on and forward.

From SD? Empty promises, no answers to email, no upgrades..it just wasn't good business sense to stay with a service that didn't come through in the punches. Plus the message boards had become so acidic at SD that you couldn't click on any threads hardly without finger pointing, name calling and more.

Inkfrog has a great reputation and for the sake of those that stayed with SD..I'm sure it will work great. Plus, SD'ers are starved for customer service, help tickets to be answered and more so they'll be happy. I would want to know what the charge was going to be before allowing my auctions to be heavilly embedded into a system though. That makes sense, right? Find out what the dollar amount is first to see if what the system does is what you want to pay for.

I have no plans to go anywhere. I'm waiting for Phase II with Auctiva. I'm happy with customer service and the reliable service that Auctiva has afforded me since leaving SD.

Plus, my own personal feelings on this are...I do not want to be affiliated with the person that upped SDs prices to it's members, promising upgrades and hiring of help to upgrade a site. All the while asking them to send in bug reports and more when they had plans on the back burner to sell the site. My view is that's dishonest. But then again, it's just my view and how I choose to do business... not with a dishonest SD owner.

You'll not have any problems with Inkfrog..it has a great reputation.

I'd just wanna know a baseline price before everything of mine was imported automatically into their system and you get a Bill Due with an amount that's not within your budget.

Good Luck with your decision,
Donna
i agree with everything that Suthrnjewl said. i have hung on at SD and the last 6 months were very frustrating. i was actually one of the people who had to call Rackspace once.

the new SD/IF Beta looks nice and they are promising quite a few perks like Inventory Management etc. the people who work for InkFrog are very professional and seem to really care about Customer Service. But....

now that i have found Auctiva i see no reason to pay for a service that i can get for free. everything here works perfectly for me.

it will be interesting to see what kind of Fee Increase they try to force on the SD members when the Beta is released.
